  1. That is a shame I was looking forward to seeing them both.
  2. To carry over 10 plus crew you need a DOT license. Crew is the movable feast so to speak but I don't think an infant could be classed as crew.
  3. Someone needs to for sure. It will be nice to see you all.
  4. They could take lessons from most other European cities such as Amsterdam Paris et all. The Dutch towns and cities look great with their tree lined banks with boats and barges moored all along.
  5. I stopped buying and reading news papers five or six years ago, my blood pressure is much improved as a result.
  6. You have succeeded in embarrassing me yet again Griff my dear boy, but at least this time not in public. The problem now is that I am going to have to do a perfect stern on mooring in front of all my peers at Beccles so thanks for that. In everything else you are as ever perfectly correct , how DO you do it.

  9. My Missus and daughter did that job for Len Funnel when he had Trail Marine on a grass bank mooring down Brimblowe or Marsh road Hoveton, his first yard on the Broads.
  10. We intend to travel from Lowestoft to Beccles on the Friday but I am trying to find the height of Lowestoft Harbour bridge to see if I can squeeze under so I don't have to wait for it to open. just the lock then I can join your procession. Oh and Charlie no I am not doing the Grt. Yarmouth to Lowestoft sea passage. We are semi safe in RN&SYC letting the old girl have a taste of sea salt. http://www.rnsyc.net/wordpress/webcam/ That is us right down the far end on the left Starboard side to.
  11. grendel beat me to it . My woodwork teacher would have had a hissy fit seeing those planes like that.. That is about all he taught me other than his completely losing it if you called sandpaper that rather than glass paper
  12. I had forgotten you had one Dave. Come on get a move on I would like a go before I pop my clogs.
  13. Asa a kid we flew Bristol Freighters from Lydd a grass runway and Ferry Field a tarmac runway, both flying to Le Touquet, once with a Jowett Javlin and once with an XK140. We also flew on a De Havilland Rapide for a day trip to Le Touquet once, the first plane I ever flew in. I have photos but cannot find them at present.
  14. I think they may have had Gray Marine engines when built. Last I heard of Golden Eagle was as a live aboard in Cornwall, heaven only knows how she got there; although I did hear of her being beached at Southend on her way to London, with some leaks up forward.
  15. There you are Robin. Top left in the pictures Golden Eagle from Leo Robinson at Oulton Broad. These are my parents and my mothers parents and my Uncle and Aunt all holidaying on Golden Eagle. Film courtesy Broadland Memories.

  22. That puts me in mind of the 3Rs in obscenity ( ex Mike Barnes Serenity ) I had spent much time on my knees making 6 full English breakfasts on a bun the last to be called down was Bill Speed who came down turned around and sat down saying where is my breakfast, you can guess of course where it was. He was not at all amused, although everyone else on board found it very droll.
  23. Indeed Charlie, are you sure the brother didn't move to Cotgrave.
