  1. Yes in between a rock and a hard place , look very smart but can be impractical as well.
  2. Forgive me if already posted, but I did hear that Ferry Marina have put safety rails on their boats, is that correct?
  3. Must be the season for Tall Ships in Lerwick as we have another one now docked. "Christian Radich".
  4. This is the welcome she got when she returned to Bergen. Bet the parents will see a lot of changes in the youngsters. They certainly know how to welcome the boat.
  5. It really all depends on who is drinking the alcoholic drink. I say that because years ago my step daughter had a boyfriend who after 1/2 of a lager thought he was Rambo. So goodness only knows how he would have fared on a pub crawl.
  6. I have been looking at some recent reviews of holidays on the Broads and found these two especially disappointing to read to say the least. What impression is this giving to people who have never visited the Broads before. So sad.
  7. I wondered if anyone else had thought the same on hearing this. I dont think I have seen one either. Edited to say, I have just read a post saying it is the engine stop. Well in most boats that I have been on that has been situated at the back of the boat (Bounty 30 type). I assumed by reading this that when you have duel steering there is a button up top that you can press and the engine will immediately stop. Sorry if I am wrong.
  8. There are no signs saying 3hrs parking at Morrisons only Tescos in Beccles.
  9. When I tackled Morrisons Customer Services at Christmas about all these people parking in the car park long term I was more or less told they can do as they like and they are keeping an eye on the situation. The cashier seemed to think they were just using it as a car park for free. I have also noticed that people park in the parent and child parking area with no children whatsoever and also park in the disabled with no badge showing, so really it is like the wild west here. When I am next in the store which will be Monday and I will ask.
  10. I didn't realise you could book to park at Morrisons car park. I thought it was free and that is why at Christmas and New Year it was full.
  11. https://oneoceanexpedition.com/statsraad-lehmkuhl https://www.vesselfinder.com/vessels/details/5339248 This beauty has been moored in Lerwick for about a week on her way back to Norway. She is a thing of beauty.
  12. Just been reading these posts, you could not make it up. How come the prices are so inflated. Do they all run Ferrari's.
  13. Acle memories. I can remember turning up at Acle in early 1992 aboard a connoisseur cruiser which was promised me was luxury. Huh if that was luxury you could keep it. It was beyond awful. The heating did not work, it was April. The fridge broke down. We spent 2 of our 4 days waiting for engineers. There was a wardrobe about 6 inches wide, it was a joke. We went to Stracey arms for an evening meal which I dressed up for, to be greeted by an empty room and someone got us some chips. Brilliant I can tell you nearly the end of a beautiful relationship. Yes they are my early memories. Yes some 38 years later we are still together.
  14. Is it, crumbs do you think they are new to the Trade. I wonder if they do pack ups for walkers en route, something they can sit by riverside and eat as part of their walk. Just an idea.
  15. plus nowadays with every other person having an allergy it must be a mine field trying to get it right.
  16. I could serve that menu up in my kitchen. Not very adventurous is it? Not far off being a burger van on the side of the road. Actually there is a better selection on their takeaway menu.
  17. Looking at the web cams this afternoon, although it is raining cats and dogs (are you allowed to say that, I dont know really) there are many boats out and about, including the Tour Bus from Wroxham. Life has come back to the Broads. Get this atrocious day of weather out of the way and the rest of the week looks good.
  18. Yes Gracie I am sure we all echo your words. A true loss.
  19. I know exactly how you feel. You need a second mortgage to keep your nashers in shape these days. The world has gone mad, same as vet bills, they never used to be what they are now, all driven by insurance companies. I used to take the cat to the vets and including the tablets , unless it was a yearly vaccination , it was usually £20 tops. They now want £20 just to take a phone call.
  20. This footage although certainly not Independence does look very similar, well to me anyway. Just shows you how good the guys were in bringing Independence back to the Broads when they did. Shows you what can happen.
  21. I have the same feeling as I felt when Broad Scot passed. Just cannot believe it. RIP Alan.
  22. What a shock, we are so sorry to hear this. That is awful. As said he will now be with Tam which I dont think he ever got over , bless him. Rest in peace Alan.
  23. I too have difficulty in walking far and especially going upstairs so we have plumped for holiday homes. There is a wide selection and you are spoilt for choice. I agree with Marshman about the houseboats at Beccles. The kiddies will think they are on a boat as effectively on the water just the same and yet you will have all facilities including an excellent taxi service here to ferry you into town - you know it is uphill and I could not do it now. I say about a taxi because of parking. At least you will be dropped off at the shops. There are several benches to sit on with help. As you will have the car a day out at Africa Alive is always worth a visit and you can reserve a wheel chair , which is what we do when you book. Plenty of toilets there and facilities for eating etc and I have to say I have never seen such clean toilets as at Africa Alive.
  24. Jean - life is too short for a fruit scone. Have a slice of that Black Forest Gateau.
