  1. Bitter sweet news, yesterday my sister's son and wife arrived ( they live away) to try and help. They immediately rang 111 and 11hrs later they had a phone call back. They must be busy. bitter sweet news is , sister is now in Maidstone Hospital with suspected liver failure. She doesn't touch alcohol, never has and we dont know how this has come about. The Doctor, God bless him who phoned said if my sister did not get to hospital that night he would not sleep it was that serious. Not going to say here , not the place but I will be having a word with someone. Good news is now she is in the right place being looked after. Thank you for listening to me.
  2. You have got to just love this forum. Question:- Name a connection between Covid19 Booster and Potter Heigham Bridge? I think we would be here all day. Please dont ever change. I will just add that my view of the NHS is starting to wane. Sister due for the District Nurse visit, appointment made, not kept , finally arrived 2 days later. Saw my sister and took her bloods which she had a job to do, put it as urgent and left. Sister now so weak she can hardly walk, never mind the stairs to get to the toilet. This should have been dealt with in October when I first mentioned how ill my sister is. I can see nothing but hopelessness now. She has had to cancel the flu and Covid Booster because she is so weak.
  3. Kill the life blood of the daft rumours stone dead - shut down Facebook and Twitter for a week.
  4. All this flowery namby pamby nonsense has got to stop. if you say to a teenager what would he/she rather do lay in bed all day or get up and do something constructive , he/she will lay in bed because it is too much trouble and bother to get up, same with these vaccinations, these numpties dont want to be bothered and they are allowed to get away with it. I think anyone who has not had the jab except for serious medical reasons ,( not because you think you have a medical reason , there must be evidence of this,) should be refused treatment - that would also concentrate the mind. Andyg - and your post is just one example , this is happening all over the UK.
  5. That is good to hear, well not that you have pain in both arms but that you have been 'done' so to speak. I dont care what percentage of protection it gives me, anything is better than no percentage.
  6. It seems to me that this country is full of numpties who think it will not happen to them and God willing it wont but I would rather be safe than sorry. Personally I have never stopped wearing a mask in the shops. The hairdressers where I go to we have always worn a mask even when having your hair washed etc and the stylists where masks or shields and they only allow very few customers in at one time. Social distancing is still being carried out.
  7. That is good to hear, it is a worry with the olduns. I know I am cracking on but I am mobile and it makes such a difference. I do worry about those who dont have someone to fight their corner.
  8. Contact Age Concern. That is how I have managed to get my sister's booster arranged. Not sure if they do home visits. May be someone could take Dad.
  9. Meantime - your edit is so true. We too have never stopped wearing masks or keeping out distance or sanitising. Some supermarkets seem to be more careful that others. I usually feel quite safe in Morrisons. The majority of folk have continued to wear masks up here.
  10. I wish there were, I cannot quite comprehend that Sittingbourne which is a huge town has no provision for giving this booster. Not everyone has a car or in a position to hire taxis'. I thought most local pharmacies were doing this. I have to say that the booster is no where near as well organised as the first Covid jabs we all had, well most of us with half a brain. People are in hospital who have not had the vaccination, unless medically they are unfortunate enough not to have it then there is no excuse whatsoever.
  11. Sounds like the 'twits' who live a few bungalows down from us and who rent. The first Easter soon after the first Lockdown they had all of the family over for the whole day on Easter Sunday. Cars parked out in the road. Should have bubbled them really. They are the family with the cars with the noisy exhausts. I pity their elderly neighbours. I wish I knew who the Landlord is.
  12. Thank you for your replies, it is silly they want everyone jabbed and yet make it so difficult.
  13. Although hubby and I have both had our Covid19 Booster and actually only had to walk to the local pharmacy which is a 5 minute walk away (we live near Beccles) , my sister who is 82 and practically housebound and lives in Sittingbourne in Kent is being offered the jab at - wait for it Isle of Sheppey , Rochester, or places in Essex. I mean I thought they wanted the elderly and she is very ill to get their Booster jabs. She priced a taxi to the Isle of Sheppey £35 each way. I mean its a joke. Has anyone else had problems in other areas of the UK?
  14. Greta Thunberg will be most upset - what happened to global warming. That isnt going to be that cold. You never believe any of the nonsense on Face Ache!!
  15. To boot I am married to an ex REME Staff Sergeant. I agree with your sentiments that despite the differences they all pull together when necessary. The Forces gave a lot of people very good grounding for life.
  16. Sorry just read Vaughan's post. Great minds think alike. As the daughter of an RAF Warrant Officer , a very proud man, long since passed in 1997, he was one of the first RAF men to be given the Warrant , so Mother used to tell us. He died of Cancer and had served a few spells on Christmas Island. I love to hear the friendly banter between the services.
  17. Sorry if someone has suggested it already but it pays to leave a window slightly open to let the air in. I know it goes against the grain but apparently it helps with the condensation. Obviously has to be a window that will not let the weather in.
  18. If anyone is local and would like to attend there is an event today starting at mid day.
  19. I see the above mentioned boat is sold. If only that boat could talk I bet it would have tale or two to tell.
  20. Forth Bridge looks good but take note -The bed is hard so recommended taking a mattress topper - that came from one of the reviews. Silver Simoom is the same, rock hard bed. You would have been more comfortable on the floor. Yet some boat beds are really comfy.
  21. If you read back over Norfolk Nogs posts, Howard does point out that they take their own hose and adapter. They knew every water point and its plus and minus points. Take at least 4 x 5 ltr bottles of water. Plus 2ltr bottles of water. Water you need for everything. Dont take showers, just a wash up and down (it has never killed anyone to my knowledge yet) Lets face it to flush the loo - the river with the aid of a bucket tied to a piece of rope and you can flush the loo. Water points are ok until they freeze solid as they did when The Beast from the East struck. Can I just add from a woman's point of view, you may think it is lovely and an adventure but anyone like me would find it not so. I hate the cold and damp. Cannot see any fun in constantly worrying about batteries. Although we take camping lights so no need for lights in the evening and a power pack to back up batteries when using the TV. All things to be considered. How about a nice cosy warm riverside bungalow?
