  7. Hi Jeff, Is that because he also has a dodgy wig Mind you I thought his hat was grafted to his head. Regards Alan
  8. The testing of these CO/Fire alarms is not much effort by an engineer on a tick sheet, press the test button on every hire and change the battery at the season start. The fact that there is an alarm aboard has to be a bonus for any hirer. Many of private boats have these fitted now since the reports of deaths from CO poisoning both on the canals and the Broads. Regards Alan
  9. As most of you will know these two bridges work as a pair of bridges due to the short track ditance between them. If you phone or radio the bridges in normal operation then the staff at both bridges will not open either bridge if a train is scheduled to be on that section of line. We of course now have the displays showing the time delay, I rather miss the signs hung out to the operators window. Regards Alan

  11. TV reception on the Broads has certainly got better since digital, but since we have been coming here for a good number of years we bring DVD's with us to while away the evening hours assuming we are not playing games or doing crosswords. We might watch the occasional program but not many. Regards Alan
  12. Hi Monica, That is the new Bridge Restaurant if you are talking about the building on the port side when going through the bridge. Regards Alan
  13. Here is a link to the Ferry Marina, so you can check out Turquoise Emblem. http://www.ferry-marina.co.uk/cruiser-2 Regards Alan
  14. There is room for at least four boats on Commissioners Cut, the problem lies if you are one of the boats at either end of the cut and you are blocked in by other boats. Regards Alan
  15. Hi Helen, The pictures of the Norwich Yacht Station look idyllic, but after mooring there we found it to be very noisy during the early afternoon, the other issue is that the yacht station is not far from the club area of Norwich so again the noise factor at night. We left and moored at Brammerton, you could moor at Commissioners Cut, it is only a short walk over the railway bridge and up the lane to the main road, if you turn left at the top of the lane the bus stop into Norwich is about 20 to 30 meters on the left. Regards Alan
  16. Hello Helen, Welcome to the NBN forum, it seems you have really caught the boating bug. Looking forward to you diary reports. Regards Alan & Tan
  17. Sadly we hear there are not enough beds, beds are not the issue, nor are the wards to put them on. the issue is not enough nurses to man those beds. Most people like to be out of the hospital as soon as possible and in many cases this is before they should be discharged which results in more visits back to the hospital. Bring back the Matrons/Nursing Officers I say and get control back into hospitals. Regards Alan
  18. Hello Michael The list was compiled with the help of forum members replying to the topic with updates on the current price of pumpouts and fuel costs when they visited various locations, as you can imagine the fuel costs were updated more often. You can leave a message on both topics Fuel & Pump Out or send me a PM and I will alter the front page of each topic accordingly. Regards Alan
  19. Hello Seamaster, Here is a link to our listing of the pumpout locations and the latest prices that we have. Regards Alan
  20. And three years older than me, both Electricians at some point, no doubt shot knees, I suffered with housemaids knee in my late 20's, at the time we had just bought our house and was no doubt bending pipes over my knee. Tan was not impressed trying to push me in my Grandfathers wheelchair. Regards Alan
  21. Like Grendel I undertake most of jobs myself. Having seen so called tradesmen doing jobs in the past, often having to borrow my tools because they do not have the right tool with them. One plumber I came across fitted the boiler pump under the floor in the bathroom, in order to do this he cut four inches out of three 7 x 2 floor joists all of which were supporting the bath. The builder and I went back to our house for a cup of tea least we said anything to the said tradesman. Carole if you have found a good plumber as already stated make sure you keep him sweet. Regards Alan
  22. Hi Ian, I saw the message on Facebook regarding Iain's birthday today, I am sure no one replied at the time, what would you reply! He would have been 68 today, no age really. RIP Iain
  23. Hi John, If you are taking the boat out of the water it might be an idea to have a look at prop shaft at the stern gland end to see if there is any wear. A few years ago we had the prop shaft extracted and it was worn there, because of the time involved (to get the boat ready for the season start) we had Broom's parcel up the 8 foot long prop shaft and we had it collected and shipped to a company in Leeds for it to be stainless welded and machined to its original state. Also see a picture of when we had issues with the cutlass housing. Regards Alan
