  1. Hi Peter, In its day the Zenith with its built in light meter was a good camera, I had one for years before I purchased a Cannon A1. Regards Alan
  2. Hi Shaun, Slightly out of your budget; there is a Sheerline A42 2002 at NYA, but at this time of the year they may do a deal. http://www.nya.co.uk/sheerlinea42-1-for-sale.html Regards Alan
  3. A friend of mine sent me this information stating that Big Brother might even be in your airbags? Check out this sneaky pdf:- Regards Alan TCU Snapshot January2014[1].pdf
  4. The Duck Broad restoration project using gabion's has been commended in the Natural Environment category at the 2015 Living Waterways Awards. http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/environment/recognition_for_work_to_restore_reed_bed_on_the_norfolk_broads_1_4266387 Personally I would question just using steel gabion's in this project, galvanised or galvanised covered plastic gabion's would have had a far better life. Regards Alan
  5. Hello Martin, I use ours for working out passage through Yarmouth in conjunction with the Broads Tides table (this gives the low water height). They used to be on sale at Norfolk Marine but I have not seen them for years, so printing out your sample and laminating the disks could be of help to forum members. Thank you for bringing up the use of the table again. Regards Alan
  6. Hello Steve, You can get to Wroxham, but there is not that many moorings before the bridge. You can pre-book a mooring at the Hotel Wroxham (01603 782061) also there is a few mooring spaces at the day boat hire company just before the hotel. You can also moor at other Hire companies bases (but not on change over days) there are a number in Wroxham, your hire company will give you details of this, but if not ask. Regards Alan
  7. Hello Steve, Welcome to the NBN forum from Tan & myself. Lots of pretty places on the Northern & Southern Broads, but some of them are dependent on the height of the boat you have hired. You more than likely would not be able to get under Potter Heighem bridge, but you may get under Wroxham Bridge (in both cases you will have to contact the pilot to take you through). Womak Staithe is a good place to moor and there is only a short walk up the lane to the Ludham village for provisions and food at the pub. Stokesby is also a good place to moor, we prefer the green if there is any space, if not then outside the Ferry Inn, a good shop here behind the pub that has a cafe and cakes to die for. Horning again the green if there is space, if not there is three pubs to moor at. Acle moor at the Bridge Inn if you can. Loads of places on the Southern Broads and if you are going to head up to Norwich, go up the River Chet to Loddon it is well worth the diversion. We also like mooring at Bramerton Common or outside the Waters Edge pub, (just up the lane/river). As already said by Jonathan the train service is great on the Broads with several trains per day. Please let the forum members know how your first time on the Broads goes. If you want any advice please ask we have a wealth of knowledge shared by the forum members. Go onto the Richardson's website to check out their first timers and information video's. http://www.richardsonsboatingholidays.co.uk/first-timers/ Regards Alan
  8. A friend of mine send me this clip of a brown bear, I thought I would share it with you. http://www.wimp.com/bear-seat/ Regards Alan
  9. Hi Jonathan, My brother in law is also a Jonathan but always prefers Jon. There is quite a few Alan's on here, but we get by, well some of the time. Regards Alan
  10. Hello Jonathan, Or do you prefer Jon? Thank you for your blog and pictures, the forum members do like to feel part of everyone's holiday, I know I long to get back on the water after reading the blogs. Regards Alan
  11. Hi Iain, I agree it is a minefield and the trouble is that there is no direct comparison with any of the utility companies, you can go on comparison sites but at the end of the day until you put in who is your current supplier and your address details you do not get the correct information. I now look at it every year for all suppliers and try and get the best deal at the time. I must admit when we were with BT I never came across any of their staff who were prepared to knock off any cash, maybe they are now loosing too many customers. We are now with Plusnet (owned by B.T.) at a far lower cost. Regards Alan
