  1. Our excess is £300 but £450 if double moored and there is a claim. I think the management fee (or owners share yearly fee) at £1160 is quite reasonable for a four week share. The management fee for Ranworth Breeze has been £700, £500 and £600 for 2014 for our two weeks share. Like Lightning the only items that have to be paid for is fuel, pump outs and boat cleaning (again owners can do this themselves, unless it is out of season I do this myself). Cleaning a boat inside and outside can take up 3 hours (for my sins I get to do the outside). When we hire narrow boats each year we always tend to mop the side of the boat that is moored up, keeping at it all week saves time at the handover and I like a clean boat, brass cleaner is part of our narrow boat kit. Regards Alan
  2. Hi 10B, I need the feedback so thank you, I will check it out. I have sorted the entry for the Broadland Holiday Village Bar listing and looking through the list whilst editing found two other incorrect entries. If anybody finds any more can they please let me know. Regards Alan
  3. Hello everyone, I have just uploaded a concise listings of most if not all of the Norfolk Broads pubs and hotels giving contact details and locations with links to Google Maps, this link also gives links to the pub/hotel website if they have one and also gives some reviews and insights such as providing restaurants, real ale etc. Please have a look at the list, it is located in Visiting the Broads/Broads Pubs. Please let me know if I have missed any and I will include them, I have now listed a number of pubs in Yarmouth near to the Yacht Station. Regards Alan
  4. Hello David, Welcome to the forum from Tan & myself. Silverline is a very good yard, friends of mine have hired boats from them for a number of years, Richardson's give great value and most yards are giving loyalty discounts, if they don't advertise the fact it costs nothing to ask. If you have caught the Broads bug that will be the end of any spare cash you once had. Regards Alan
  5. Hi Jacob, You need to get a crew member to pull the dinghy around the side of the boat and attach the rope to the bow well out of the way so other boats can moor at the side of you if there is space. Dinghies are good if you have a young crew, so they can go off on their own (or under supervision)if wearing their life vests, they are also good if used for getting ashore whilst mud weighted etc, but the rest of the time they can be a pain. Watch out whilst towing the dinghy that it does not go from side to side hitting moored boats. Regards Alan
  6. Hi Jacob, I would assume that your dingy & outboard is covered under your home insurance, if this is the case check with your insurer if your insurance covers public liability. Just a thought, but to be honest it would be easier hiring from the boatyard in the long run. Regards Alan
  7. Hi Roy, Sadly it does happen, just goes to show even preventative maintenance does not always work. Regards Alan
  8. Hi Clive, I see that your webcam's are still down, is there any news of when they will be active again? Regards Alan

  10. Here is a list of the 10 effected sites, that I have listed for information purposes. 13. Have your say. Do we need a new law so we can vote on who is in charge of Norfolk and Suffolk’s Broads? Norfolk and Suffolk people will be able to decide who is in charge of the management of The Broads, under plans unveiled in the Queen’s Speech. 14. Hi 10B, I assume that Mark will have done the same as everyone else and just replaced the inserts in his light fittings this was all I did and I replaced a similar amount to Mark, I did leave the uplighters (only two on the boat) and the two reading lamps we have in the aft cabin. I tried them out with some different wattage inserts that Brian Ward's allowed me to trial prior to purchase. Regards Alan
  15. Now if someone could come up with a monitoring system that recorded the specific gravity of the electrolyte and its level in the batteries, they would have a licence to print money. Our battery box is in the most awkward place in the engine bay, oh for the want of one of these boats you just walk down a ladder into the engine bay and casually walk around the one or two engines and see all of the equipement that is easy to work on, instead you get scatched to death cramped double after removing heating ducts and any other items that impead you progress to get to the items you wish to look at. Regards Alan
  16. I saw this the other day but lost where I had seen it. This has to be good for the area, any skills that can be passed on has got to be good for the industry and the job market. For the details please see the following:- http://www.angliaafloat.co.uk/news/lowestoft_boatbuilder_s_call_for_15_apprentices_1_3611811 Regards Alan

  20. Hello Jacob, Welcome to the forum and your first post from Tan & myself. Here is a very short clip of Limelight. I am sure that Dan & Robin (the rascal) will be along soon with their thoughts on this boat. Regards Alan
  21. No matter how ugly the boat is at the time and even now it is a means to be on the water. The bonus is if you are on board you are not looking at the boat and if you get to many heads shaking in your direction you can always retreat indoors. You might even find Grace hiding away Regards Alan
  22. 42 days for Tan & myself. Regards Alan
  23. The Cromer lifeboat returns back onto station after a nine month refit. It is amazing that these lifesaving vessels are provided by public donations. Please dig deep into your pockets the next time you see a donation tin from the RLNI. http://www.angliaafloat.co.uk/news/homecoming_for_cromer_lifeboat_after_nine_month_absence_1_3615981 Regards Alan
  24. Hi Alan, I would say that Maffett's is a good choice on the Southern Broads and the advice your were given is very sound. Regards Alan
  25. Mutford Lock – Update 2nd June 2014 The repairs to the lock control system are now complete. Following initial testing and training, normal operation will resume from Tuesday 3rd June. Booking by arrangement with the Oulton Broad Yacht Station who can be contacted on 01502 574946, is essential to allow staff to manage the high demand expected and to allow for any adjustments as the new system settles.
