  1. Hi John, Sadly no, the last time we visited early in the year they were still as disgusting as ever. There was talk around five years ago that a new toilet shower block was to be built with access to boat users using the yacht station, using key codes. Tan and other ladies that come on the boat will not now use these facilities. Regards Alan
  2. I always thought the old use of newspapers was the best, they always kept your fish & chips warm Regards Alan
  3. Going back to the late 60's early 70's when the only Levi's you could buy were the un-shrunk type. A friend of mine to make sure they fitted well decided to sit in the bath with the said jeans on, he thought it would be a good idea to put in most of the packet of soap flakes into the water which ended up almost with him and the jeans stuck in the quagmire of set soap flakes. Regards Alan
  4. Hi Sue, As always if we get any enquiries for a more than a four berth boat I will pass on your details. Please send me a PM with your full contact details. Regards Alan

Hi Matt, That was Chris who did the pumps for a number of years, Malcom as well as doing the pumps also did gelcoat repairs and polishing boats, he did ours for a number of years prior to us stopping using their services for our 2017 Winter Service. we were not happy with the 2016 Winter Service at all. Regards Alan

  18. Hi Chris, RCI have done this for years, we used to bank with them unused cottage weeks at Windermere and swap them for narrow boat holidays or holidays in other locations. Regards Alan
  19. I fully agree a great run family business and all our forum members can get a discount. Regards Alan
  20. Hi Ian, Malcolm was telling us that he had applied for his job when we last at the boat in July, I am sorry to hear that Broom's have given the job to someone else. Malcolm was used to all of the regulars that used the fuel station and the foibles of the said craft. Regards Alan
  21. Hi oldgregg, All the boats that used to be for sale at the side of the Yare have gone and that basin is virtually empty. I had heard that planning has been applied for. Regards Alan
  22. Sorry Sue, Last week we sold the share we had available, as you say we now have two shares available. I wish you the best of luck with your remaining share, come on people Sue is offering this share at £3000 for 4 weeks allocation each year, it is a steel at that price even if you only use it for two or three weeks. Regards Alan
  23. Welcome to this special edition of Broad Sheet which we are sending to every toll payer on the Broads. There is some timely information which just couldn’t wait until the usual Broad Sheet which is published in February including: · An opportunity to join the Broads Authority Navigation Committee and influence toll charges, planning and other strategic policies and strategies · Details of our first ‘Broads Engage’ workshop in November which will focus on improving access to the broads · A Boat Safety Scheme (BSS) consultation about Carbon Monoxide alarms We hope you find this edition useful and informative. 24. Hi Roy, What you say is true. I would steer clear of any management company that retained any percentage of the boats ownership. As you ourselves and Southern Crusader became self managed in 2012 after we repudiated our management company, we looked at other management companies at this time but decided to go self managed, the result was Management charges reduced from nearly £1000 per year to £700 in the first year and lower ever since. The boat is better maintained and with upgrades from the owners wish lists all within the set budget each year. To give you an example during the winter service period our forward and lounge seating was renewed, we also our bow thruster with a more powerful twin blade model. This was an hefty cost, but we set the budget for two years to pay for the upgrades. If anyone has concerns with boat ownership then please check the Small Ships Registry, We changed our registration with them in 2012. Regards Alan
  25. Syndicate ownership had a bad period between 2007 and 2008 which resulted in jail time for one of the syndicate groups at the time, several of the boats we know of on the Broads were effected and on the canals it effected many more. We had a canal holiday booked at the time with RCI and were advised that the boat we had booked was no longer available, we were given an alternative at six weeks before the holiday; It effected 600 plus narrow boat shares at the time and gave timeshare a bad name at the time. In the early days of the Amusement Industry jukeboxes were regarded and sold as phonographs rather than the jukebox seen at the time in the Juke Joints. Regards Alan
