  1. What people call things and what they are, are frequently different, sometimes even for 'marketing purposes'. My sister has a Miele hoover and I use a Parker biro. The Lake District is a national park but calls itself "The Lake District" the Broads is not a National Park but calls itself "The Broads National Park". We use Bulbs when we should use lamps and lots of us fly the Union Jack. I can't remember who it is, but someone has the following quote at the end of his posts... "In terms of government policy, the Broads is treated as a member of the national parks family although its statutory basis is quite separate and IT IS NOT LEGALLY A NATIONAL PARK. We do not propose to change this position and it is DEFRA's intention that the three purposes of the Broads remain of equal standing."... So overall, I wouldn't worry about it too much Peter. Those who read the EDP probably already know, and those who don't read it wouldn't know it was said.!
  2. Ahh so, the thong has ended but the malady lingers on.
  3. And that says it all. Most of the whinging was about life the universe and everything... but not against you. The 'calendar' whining's were out of character for this forum, and those complaining I believe did so without thinking things through. The 'Team' here are well thought of, irrespective of odd comments, which is why this forum does so well. Keep it up and change nothing.
  4. Oh come on Barry, Happiness is a good spout.!
  5. Why couldn't they have been called 'Dave' and 'Ted' ? I can spell those!!
  6. Well, as the title of the thread says.....
  7. It'll certainly never be a gold mine, but if an owner-landlord takes it over I think it will make for a pretty comfortable living. It's been done before and it can be done again. The biggest problem with it now is it's condition. but that's not insurmountable.
  8. Are you sure your laser is straight? I know mine isn't by looking at all my DIY work.
  9. I've sort of asked this before but what is exactly you are challenging? If Packman can put forwards the argument that this review was to instigate a fairer system, and if he gets any support, (which he will) then nobody has any reasonable grounds to mount a challenge. So those who have to pay more may well feel hard done by, but those who gain might well say "About time too" It has often been said "Be careful what you wish for." and many on this forum and on others have for years been saying that the tolls for dinghies are outrageously high. This it now seems is being addressed. About time too. I have little liking for JP and his methods, but I'd prefer any fight with the man be a winnable one and that it be for something more deeply routed for the good of the broads as we know them. What he is achieving here is to draw the teeth of his main perceived opposition. As soon as he can prove that most of the people who oppose him are self centred boat owners who have no thoughts of fairness as long as they can continue riding roughshod over the Broads National Park, then he WILL be calling the shots. ALL the shots. At that point all his friends in Natural England and the RSPB will be able to get their way. Do we want that?
  10. I am a member of Amazon Prime ( If "member" is the right term ) but you are all talking double dutch to me. How do I watch something from Amazon Prime? Do I need to buy a new TV? I hope not as we have several, Two Panasonic Vieieieiereaiaoas ( one 32", the other 55" ) and a Pioneer 60". Newest one is the Panasonic 55" bought 2011 or 12. That one is connected to the web. Edited to ask, We have a boxed set with one disc that has corrupted. Can I use Amazon Prime to replace that disc?
  11. Looking at the thread title, I can't help but wonder if there should be a comma between "only" and "women"
  12. Oh yes Grendal, The trouble would come at you en masse
  13. And that a "damage waiver " isn't someone waving to us, who has a poorly foot.
  14. Sounds like your scales were measuring in Newtons not Kilos or stone!
  15. Given the "Love, honour and OBEY " bit, isn't "1" enough?
  16. Fair enough, I'll just keep away from this thread.
  17. I'd rather not know which pics made it through. Nice surprise when the calendar arrives.
  18. Oooh, the list of things I wouldn't want Wildfuzz to see.
  19. Pears? Easy if you go to the right gardens.
  20. I've just winterised Nyx. I took all the red wine off and took the white out of the fridge.
  21. I have 62 goldfish, 2 roach, three rudd and a gudgeon (so far) in a pond about 24 feet by 12 feet by 3 feet deep. The pond is new, only filled with water a month ago and the fish have been going in over the last week to ten days. 50 of the goldfish are about two inches long with the remaining fish all about four inches. As yet there is no water weed except two baskets of lillys that are cut back and dormant. The pond has a bubble thingy which looks like all the fish have gone to one spot to fart, and a "Sprinkly Tinkly" fountain. It has two water falls or cascades as I believe they're called, one of which goes through a filter system. Tomorrow I'll take some pics :)
  22. Ok, not boating but may I ask those who have garden ponds at what temperature they stop feeding their goldfish. Thanks for any advice.
  23. I was told to learn to row,..... oar else.
