  1. Do I take it then that all the 'bank reprofiling' has exposed a load of fresh peat which in turn is making BA as dirty as Nyx? Ah ha, so brown is the new green!
  2. Arghhh, the things that "grind my gears"... It's "the government is" not "the government are"... "if I were to" not "if I was to"... "A free gift"...All gifts are free!!! Reversing back... sinking down and raising up, should just read "reversing, sinking and raising" "Off of" Oh yuk! using "Literally" when meaning metaphorically " I was literally glued to my seat" Thank you VictoryV, I was typing this when you posted "can I get" , that's another one I hate. Also,If I ask "How are you", I am asking after your health, not your morals so "well thank you" is an appropriate response. "I'm good thanks" is not. I could go on... and on and on.
  3. Oh ok Ray, if I must... Wot, effing Hickling??? Oh effing hell, Don't say my effing boat's got effing dirty !
  4. That is the one thing that will not happen Poppy however much we would like it to. that's why I said...
  5. Hmmm, Time for one of my 'unpopular' views again. It is inevitable, absolutely inevitable, that the broads will change. They have changed since the 60s when I first knew them, and they will continue to change. Nobody but nobody will be able to stop that. What we can do is try to influence the direction and the extent that this change will take. To my mind there are only two feasible directions. Either commercialisation or conservation. I see no other option. With commercialisation we will see more money spent on waste disposal, moorings footpaths as well as GRP swans, gaudy plastic slides and no doubt cruise through MacDonald's. Everything that goes into the broads will be done to make money. The other option is for the whole shooting match to become a great big nature reserve, probably run by the RSPB with naff all access to anybody without a title. We have members looking back at those halcyon days of the 50s/60s forgetting perhaps that their parents were doing exactly the same thing. we can take some comfort though, given that our children will also be doing just that! The broads will not go back to how they were any more than they will stay as they are, but each and every one of us has to decide in which direction we want it to go, and be loud in voice in our wishes. Me? I'm for the commercial direction. Pedellos and popcorn over sediment and Sandford.
  6. I say! That's jolly generous of you! Just tell me where you are doing it and I'll come along and cheer.
  7. Sorry DF but yes I do. I'm not saying that this IS the case in this instance, but I am in no doubt about the depths some people will sink to when trying to increase their financial pickings. Old ladies have been mugged, charity boxes have been stolen and many many other despicable actions have taken place, corporately and individually. I said in my post that it was a possibility that the notice was from something other than a genuine source. I'm sorry you found that offensive but that does not stop it from being a possibility, and I feel no shame in expressing that view. This forum has not degenerated, it is still the same forum it has always been and with the same values.
  8. Wasn't it the Waveney which had just spent a load of cash getting the kitchen up to spec? I'd be surprised to find it closing so soon after that!
  9. It has the slight feel of a "Chain posting" to me, or a cheap trick for advertising the Ferry Inn. It might of course be genuine, in which case, good luck to them.
  10. I think that's the third time that sign has been posted on this site. I do hope it's genuine and if it is, I wish them every success in their quest.
  11. Just my view but for what it's worth, I think Salhouse broad is a fine place to moor. A lot of money has been spent on facilities, namely water. which must have cost a fortune to put in. There has been much work done on the landscaping and walkways, making it one of the most attractive broads in the northern region. The deeper moorings are on the western end of the broad, plenty deep enough for most craft. As I said, just my view but that's how I see it.
  12. A small observation about the "Work force". Where's the one with the northern accent, standing to one side, drinking tea and telling all the others what they should be doing? Just wondered.
  13. Then we be a pair of sceptics together BB!
  14. The gorilla bloody hopes so! It is a male !!!
  15. Spot on Peter, Exactly how I feel.
  16. Agree, total idiot. However I agree with Mark in everything he has said here. I really nobject to this 'nanny state' intervension. When common sense goes out of the window, we are leftg with lunacy. See pic below for example. This is a sign in a pub local to me.
  17. Just for once MM I agree with you!! Whilst I don't like it myself, if we are going to do comparisons at least be fair and do like for like. As I said, I don't care for that development yet even I will agree, it has mellowed a bit.
  18. I had no idea that there was a 'Tea room' in Salhouse village.I am aware of the post office/General store there and the Bell Inn, but little else. It strikes me that the existing tea room only has itself to blame if another comes along and makes the grade.
  19. Drilling for oil perhaps! Every little helps!
  20. Thinks ... Glad I don't come from Pentenville.
