  1. You have a guage that measures 'Griff' Wow, that is impressive.
  2. I wondered if she was a Bourne, looks like one.
  3. The second cabin cruiser I ever oiwned, I bought as a fibreglass Hull with its superstructure and cabin soles. so it was brand new and thus un-named. Wondering what to call it, a friend of mine who had a narrow boat said "Choose a short name and one with all the letters made of straight lines. It makes the signwriting easier and cheaper." This rather ruled out Poseidon and Neptune plus of course I wanted the name to be female! I stayed on the Greek/Roman mythology line and found Nyx. Nyx was born of Chaos (Fitting) and personified a void (Even more fitting given the empty shell I'd bought) There was no way I was likely to find a shorter name and all the letters were straight, so bingo! When I've bought boats, I have always been reluctant to change the name, superstition and all that. My first boat was a marine ply 16 footer called Kiwi, my third was an aging Sea Master called St. Christopher. I liked neither name but didn't change them. Then I bought Grey Goose IV. I didn't mind the "Grey Goose" so much, but the "IV" was not for me. I still liked the name "Nyx" so "Nyx" it became. Just as a little 'PS' to this some years ago I bought a Dinghy. It had no name so I called it "Nyx II" The BA got the wrong idea of it's name and tolled it as "Nyxii" I didn't rate the dinghy very highly, very unstable in my opinion, so when I saw a better one for sale, I bought it. That also had no name so I tolled that one as "Nyxii II" !
  4. ... and that's all that's needed for her to be the perfect boat for you. Though, having said that, I have to admit that my boat spoke to me too. Sadly this is a 'family forum' and so I'm not allowed to tell you what she said.

  6. Yes indeed, It's the thwart that counts.

  10. And ending up with... "and anyway, I gotta boat."
  11. Alan, (and Jeff), the ones upstream at St Olaves and Beccles were kept because of pier pressure.
  12. I was looking for bite marks/scratches round the bald patch as best I could and although he didn't allow me much of a look, I couldn't see any broken skin. I shall try to take some pics. and yes, good idea, I'll ask the vet if he's been treating said moggy
  13. I take it there's not a lot to see just outside Coldham Hall
  14. Ok, I am a dog person rather than a cat one, however, this year a cat seems to have decided that this just isn't good enough and is trying to make me mend my ways. He/she now seems to find me whenever I'm in the garden and demands a fuss. In the past, he and any other cat that wandered into our garden (and there were many) would take one look at me and treat me with utter contempt. All cats did this and I was used to it, but now, this one cat is giving me one last chance to redeem myself. I freely admit that I'm becoming rather fond of him/her Two weeks ago, I thought I saw a wound or bite or something on the back of his neck. I should point out that this cat is pure white (and has one green eye and one blue one) so marks in the fur are easily spotted. I saw 'Spooky' as I call him/her (... Oh hell, for the sake of argument we'll say him) last week and the marks were quite pronounced, such that I could just see a tiny bit of skin rather than just thinned fur. I have just come in from the garden where Spooky came visiting for his fuss. He now has a bald patch there roughly 2" round. He doesn't let me look at it and won't let me pick him up. He never has. This bald patch doesn't look shaved though it could be. If it is shaved then I think it safe to say he's being treated, if however it is not from being shaved then there is a worsening of the problem. I have no idea who owns the cat, the neighbours don't know either, so I'm hurtling towards a bit of a dilemma. Do I take the cat to the vet or what? I'm not really in a position to take on vets bills on behalf of someone else but I'll not see the poor chappie suffer. At the moment it seems to bother me far more that it bothers him! Please advise!!!
  15. That is looking like a highly probable course of action. Next time I'm up for a week, that could be just what I do. Even so, I would like to shop around a bit and learn what I need, possibly even fitting it myself if I can find out how.
  16. Hmmm Maybe Halfrauds is a way forwards after all. I still need to know what the sender fittings are on the Beta Marine.
  17. By jingo It surely do. Now, Is there such an animal as the one you so describe?
