  1. If you have shore power go for an electric dehumidifier on a timer for 6 hours during the day, drained into a sink. Just make sure the dehumidifier can restart from a timer, not all can. Currys do one in the essentials range for about a hundred pounds but I don't know if it restarts on a timer, best to check. I have run heaters on plug in thermostats and a dehumidifier on a timer for the last 8 years with no problems at a cost of 50 to 60 pounds for the winter.
  2. What company would sack a CEO who turned in a 1.1 billion profit.?

    Not Good

Apparently at Brundall Gardens on the river, it wasn't Matron . May have been a passing craft.
  4. I am probably trying to find perfection I can go out for a couple of hours in it and think, that's perfect, next day it doesn't feel right.
  5. Help I seem to spend half my time adjusting the angle of the outboard on my Broom Scorpio. It is a mariner 20hp with electric lift and normally has two in the front seats. In simple terms what angle should it be at in relation to the transom to give a smooth ride. Should it be set to the transom angle or what else as the bow will lift easily at 5mph. I keep it under 5mph. Thanks.
  6. I wonder what would happen if I tried this form of evasion with HMRC, DVLA or even the BA toll. I have private health care that I pay a fortune for, out of taxed income, should I with hold part of my National Insurance payment as I don't use most of the NHS.!! Snowy, I hope you don't spit your tea out but I think you are morally wrong. I also object to being compared to a sheep. Baa.
  7. Tim, that's part of an Anderson shelter
  8. What happened to good old fashioned honestly. People have a choice, use it and pay or go elsewhere. Would anyone expect to sit in a pub all evening and not buy at least a drink, no because the place has overheads to pay, so does the mooring, lease, rates, maintenance… Is the problem the cost, in which case you have a choice or is it the meter. Would everyone be happier if it was just closed down to mooring again.
  9. How much would the charge increase if the leaseholder employed a human to collect the fee ? Yes the machine is ugly but so are the parking meters on the riverside for the car parks, these can be seen from the river.
  10. I think we need a smug g#t emoji for stinkies who help wind warriors
  11. Welcome Mark, lots of useful and interesting info to be found on here.

    Towing

I lost my towing cherry today Fortunately I had read the recent posts on the correct way to tow and promptly ignored it all. Happily pootling along in the little Broom and we spotted a woodie rag and stick on a mud weight in the middle of the Yare. Now I know these folk do strange things but I called over. Appears the outboard was broken, the wind had disappeared and the tide was starting to run fast. Turns out he wanted to get to Rockland but had been stuck for over an hour as only hire craft had asked if he needed help and couldn't tow him. Having just come out of Rockland I knew it was only half a mile upstream. We grabbed a bow line and managed to get him up to the Broad and moored without any problem. Makes a change to get a smile and happy wave from a rag and stick pilot
  13. I expect we waved to each other
  14. Is it really that different to a pontoon bollard that has water, electric x 2 and a light on top.
  15. Welcome from another Brundall moorer, what marina are you based in ? There are quite a few of us in the Brundall area.
  16. Robin, the wisdom usually given is buy a boat bigger than you think you need as you will trade up to a bigger boat within a year or two. I don't think you need to heed this advice, if you go much bigger you will need a full time crew.
  17. I can't see anything wrong with the BA yurt, it is quite discreet and easily moved The whole site looked an eyesore this afternoon. I did take a photo but can't upload it at the moment
  18. Grendel, it was a similar problem that wrote off two shiny Ferraris and a Red Bull on the first left bend in the Singapore F1 on sunday. A few million pounds worth of cars bent up. It was declared a racing incident.
  19. That old saying comes to mind, You don't do as I do, you do as I tell you.
  20. They can't afford me, for either post. I also suspect my views would go against the set agenda of both organizations and I don't speak a foreign language, I barely manage english after a gin and tonic.
  21. Was it a Ferrari or a Red Bull driven by a young Dutchman.
