  1. My thoughts on the behavior of the banks would get me moderated. They have such short memories. I have dealt with banks for 40 years in business, when you need to borrow they aren't interested unless they can screw you over, when you don't need to borrow from them any more they try to screw you on transaction fees. I do hope the government grab them by the throat and give them a good shake, then hit them with extra taxes when this is over.
  2. As far as the legislation is concerned, it automatically ends in April 2022. The national bodies and media have muddied the waters by trying to clarify things, more so recently, rather than stick to the government message. Loop holes will exist, forget them and stay at home. IF, local bodies are interpreting it with too much zeal they will have to stop on that date, if not the majority of the public will turn against them. Parliament built in this safeguard and the courts have dismissed a number of fines issued. As a country we are generally passive, but those that abuse our general good nature will find that as a whole we will push back if provoked. I am content to stay at home and follow guidance whilst it is needed. No one should mistake that for an opportunity to erode my freedoms afterwards. To put it in perspective, a few silly coppers have got carried away, they are only human, they have been ' spoken' to. I know a number of police officers, they are not enjoying this situation any more than we are. The bigger issue is the security of the Chief Constables advice to the troops, this should never have been published. On the whole the Government and police are doing a good job in very difficult circumstances. Other minor authorities are struggling but again doing the best they can.
  3. The Health Protection (Coronavirus) Regulations 2020 This is the UK legislation that covers it.
  4. A bit of light relief. We will all be out and about, one day.
  5. Glad it is only 32' in total.
  6. I have got a sample coming from Wilks, blimey it is expensive.
  7. Bats have never had a good press. Nothing wrong with bats as long as they are left in the trees and caves instead of being taken to a wet market or served on a plate.
  8. The emergency services don't have the luxury of social distancing from each other in their vehicles.
  9. I made sure I had paint when the lockdown was looming, ( we need a smug emoji ) What I didn't check was if I had brushes and rollers
  10. When people look for loopholes it is impossible to produce legislation that doesn't have them. Just look at tax law. If everyone followed the spirit, rather than the letter of the law, the 'authorities' wouldn't need to spend time clarifying. If I am out for a walk I might pick up milk or bread and anything I need from the hardware store next door on the small parade of shops. I needed stainless steel bolts and washers, I could have driven to a chandlers 4 miles away and incorporated it into collecting visor parts but I found them online and they arrived this morning. We can spend another few weeks observing the spirit of the lockdown or fight it and spend the summer in our homes instead.
  11. Local, small independent hardware stores are allowed to open. My one has most things available including paint and tools. Worth trying if you have one.
  12. I am stumped, Any ideas what this is officially called, And Where can I get some from. The trim is aluminum, 30mm wide and the insert is 12mm. It appears to have been red originally but has faded to mucky white. Ideally I only want the insert as the trim is rivetted on. Thanks.
  13. It is scary, my little 5 year old granddaughter went down with it 3 weeks ago, very high temperature for 5 days and no energy and then bounced right back. She was her normal self after 7 days. It didn't stop us being worried though. Keep safe and well.
  14. I cleaned my boat the week before lockdown. It will probably need doing again
  15. I suspect it will be a gradual easing over a number of weeks. Social distancing will stay the norm for a long time. However we are now use to these measures, even if they feel a bit odd. I don't see pubs and restaurants, concerts and large gatherings opening until the last phase. The government are looking for a bounce in the third quarter, that can't happen if nine million are still furloughed and shops and construction sites are closed. Only time will tell but it will end, eventually.
  16. No, that is why it is in The Broadscot Lounge. Snap, posted at the same time.
  17. When it is so close it does bring it home how serious the situation is. My neighbour's funeral took place today, no limo and just 8 close family allowed. The service was limited to 20 minutes in total. No wake after. A good number of us stood at the end of our drives as the Undertaker lead the hearse up the road. A strange mixture of news ways and old customs.
  18. Vive la difference, Perhaps time to get back to the thread !!
  19. I suspect things will be eased, gradually. Social distancing will still be the norm and i don't see foreign travel being encouraged until after vaccines have become widespread. Pubs, clubs and food venues will probably be last to open. We do have the advantage of seeing how things progress in other countries first.
  20. I want to be at the bottom of Peter's (JM ) garden. Just a small shed will do.
  21. Another 170 dropped off to brother for distribution. Well done Alan.
  22. Glad to help Alan. You are doing fantastic work, thank you on behalf of every single person who has received one. It also gives me a legitimate reason to go out to collect them from you and pass on to brother Barry to deliver them. The response he is getting is humbling.
