  2. Maybe put one at the bottom of each their drives to keep them away from meetings !
  3. Seems they have decided they are to go ! I wonder where they will end up now ? Councillors to walk the plank from the Staithe maybe. http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/horning_staithe_s_plant_tubs_branded_illegal_and_removed_1_4021514
  4. Like the replies, there were a few good ones today, liked the one about Parking Eye offering Parking awareness courses as if ? Jeremy Clarkson going Green ? But there have been some crackers over the years. What was your favourite ?
  5. Just heard on BBC radio Norfolk that Nelsons column is to be relocated to Norfolk at Pensthorpe ,his home land, where he can look out to sea ?? only need approval from Boris and it will be started.Me thinks this has something to do with the date ?.
  6. This morning in the news following recent meeting ,these comments . http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/broads_authority_accused_of_gagging_its_members_1_4004881
  7. So many day boats available in Wroxham ,I am not aware of many in Horning apart from Boulters ?
  8. News of Richardsons taking over Fineway, a yard in Hoveton, better known to boaters as Wroxham with a day boat base, building a new range of boats which sound interesting offering more facilities for the hirers. http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/broads_biggest_operator_expands_into_hoveton_1_3997387
  9. New boats to attract the younger end of the market with plenty of gadgets.Mr P gets a trip in her and gives his approval ! Link to article http://www.eveningnews24.co.uk/news/business/herbert_woods_cash_injection_helps_fire_up_two_new_broads_cruisers_1_3995004
  10. I would be interested to find out if the addition of water as in Donny's post would happen ? Perhaps someone in the know could verify if say six inches of water ,obviously not reaching the under floor level would lower the boat by that much ? Going on a boat of ours in the past was low in the water and after removing many sacks of iron pellets only came up an inch or so ? I remember seeing the yard above the bridge at Wroxham going through with large filled oil drums and I think some water added to the bilges to return them to their hire base
  11. Several years a boat owner we met had purchased a 'project "boat" which had been stripped out ,even the engine which was moored on the Thurne . He had fitted row locks and oars in the cockpit and told us he had registered it as a rowing boat ? I was sceptical ,but someone may know better ?
  12. Thanks for explaining that Stowy,is it the bit round the boatyard that has to be resolved now ?
  13. Some good news on this front lets hope the rest of the route will progress http://www.eveningnews24.co.uk/news/horning_hall_driveway_is_the_latest_link_in_the_three_rivers_way_footpath_1_3989910

  15. Funny how all the water ways differ. Before we bought our boat to Norfolk we had her on another river where the dinghy was included in the toll carrying the same number..Our first trip to Norwich ,passed under Carrow Bridge and the Mobile went and I was ticked off for not having a separate toll on the inflatable .
  16. Down on the boat today ,bit breezy but cracking weather saw a good few boats out ,a good few moored at Ranworth with some empty electric points .Bliss ! Biggest plus for me was turned the key and my trusty Perkins burst into life after five months in hibernation .
  17. Sorry Smellie ,it should've been ----Tolls !----- On the other hand ? It may have stirred up a few peeps ?
  18. On Radio Norfolk this morning a news headline and long section of the morning show the taking to court of people who have not paid their tolls and in interviews with MrPackman and others there was even the mention of boat removal for non payment of trolls .
  19. Not for me going underground either Carol. We can see Ebridge Mill in the distance as it is not far from us.What a difference the work has made over the last few years. The canal .lock and basin are restored from what to us was stream when we first moved here.On the open day various boats, even a sailing boat were using the basin and canal.I am told that use of the water is to be allowed ,especially by local people.together with the walks and some good fishing I am told.A great improvement is that the derelict mill is now being refurbished for apartments with some fantastic views and will enhance the area greatly.Roy
  20. Watched the program and found that suggestion of being compulsory is a bit ambitious ,many Dont even carry a life jacket ,so no chance .We had many years ago a small hole punched in the hull and I admit this would have been of use at that time as a get you home remedy ,I at least would have given it a try,but not at that price.
  21. Congratulations to you all from us two
  22. We have a Bounty 28 foot fitted with a brilliant little Perkins three cylinder engine ,gives us economy and as much power as we want even punching a strong tide.
  23. Must admit I was a bit bemused when I saw the picture ,perhaps I was expecting a mini Albion ! lOL
