  1. Sounded like a brilliant journey, something special about night journeys we did one aiming to stop a Acle for an early start ,but every where was chocker so carried on and were lucky to find a space at Stacey Arms which had us wondering where to go if had been full.Saw you off the Staithe when in the Maltsters trying one of their Pizzas from the out door oven, very nice.! Crossed the bridge at Wroxham tonight and saw B A moored. outside the Kings Head .Out next week after having boat safety on Monday ,fingers crossed all will be well .So will look out for any forum members ,we will be flying the flag.
  2. Is this a sign of things to come ? Love and peace between the two Types of boating ? Have you been helped out by another boat ? http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/cliff_resident_captures_sea_snarl_up_on_camera_near_cromer_1_4158634
  3. Just heard that it should reopen next Friday 24July and food will be on offer.Look forward to developments and a pint by the river.
  4. In Potter today and this notice looking for staff was at the bottom of the pub sign .could it mean it may open this season ?
  5. B A spending large amount on new work on Breydon ! http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/environment/major_project_set_to_let_broads_go_with_the_flow_1_4149681
  6. Sad to see they say she is on life support .,lets hope it turns out well in the end.
  7. Hi Richard ,we do Bedford from our sons often and this last year has seen great improvements doing Norwich in two hours,The other Sunday evening did the above without the wheels stopping ,in my view now the best cross country entry into Norfolk and Norwich.! Now the stretch to North Walsham is another matter.!
  8. From the link: " Coxswain Paddy Lee says, all the crew worked extremely hard as a well trained team to remove the casualties in extreme conditions. " Thanks for that link Matt, all these agencies involved to get these idiots off ,quoted on BBC just now the damage to their equiptment will be £3,500 alone without the operational costs which should be recovered from them.I am not seeing where they became " casualties " it was just said that they asked when being bought across the mud if they could bring their cases and Vodka .i wonder why they did not wait till they could float the inflatable to them on the rising tide ? The morning show is now discussing if alcohol should be banned from the broads ? The bad publicity from this sort of event can only put people off coming for a quiet holiday.I feel they should be put on the bank and told to get themselves sorted not being taken back to their cars to return home.
  9. Welcome ,the moorings at Somerton are good and the Lion last year was very good.Walk to Winterton via the farm road or Horsey ,you will all love it.
  10. Perhaps it was " the container ship rushing Gacies shoe order on a fast delivery " could not see her waiting on the dock though ?
  11. One way you could get in at Ranworth ? What was this about,I Captions please LOL " Help no brakes " or " That Pilot is keen to get home for the match " Link .. https://www.youtube.com/embed/QYltdonj2iE?wmode=transparent&rel=0&autohide=1&showinfo=0&enablejsapi=1
  12. Nice to hear from you Steve ,time flies at least that old tug has been long gone.I I bet that lad of yours takes charge now when your on the water ? Seen your posts and maybe see you out sometime .Roy
  13. When my Daughter first came out with us on the Broads ,she suddenly said ," Dad you know a lot off people on the river " just nodded and didn't let on for a while that I didn't have a clue who they were ! I think it's pleasant to escape the general attitude of a minority of people around , elsewhere these days ,and be waved to .
  14. If you have got a list forDan,please take a cold sponge when you deliver it ,as we can't let him get too excited ,can we !
  15. Maxwell ,you will have to work hard Ray comes with a wealth of experience in this field mixed with some serious stuff at times .I think he will agree ,sure to brighten your day
  16. Hi Ray welcome to the forum, look forward to your input .
  17. Talking to Broads Beat at Horning Boat Show about the thefts from our marina last year and today learnt they have been back at the Weekend. Six more were taken at the weekend ,seems incredible as there would have been people on their boats ,I would not like to confront them as it appears to be an organised gang.
  18. Wassername,we guys blame Hupty Dumpty or one of his mates .Was that your first sailing experience ? Glad you enjoyed it.Thought the Show was a great effort by Horning ,some good advice from many of the stalls and a solution to one of our outstanding jobs being done this week.Met up with many folk from the river ,some not seen for many years, all in all a good day out well organised .
  19. Yarmouth did charge some years back I am sure ? Interesting to know if that helped wtith costs .paid 30p at LiverpoolStreet. And 50p at the Eye ,no change given and no help offered to mums etc ,good image for London visitors of which there was very many?
  20. Even more bad news regarding thefts on the rivers.A report elsewhere states they are being shipped out in containers ,it would be interesting to know if any turn up in the police checks at boat jumbles ? http://www.eveningnews24.co.uk/news/police_warning_as_gangs_target_engines_on_broads_boats_1_4056547
  21. Sorry link did not appear ,another try ..... http://www.edp24.co.uk/business/norfolk_s_marine_firms_gear_up_for_horning_boat_show_1_4047510
  22. Not long to go now! Looks to be a good show ,spotted in the picture a well character known to many I am sure ?
  23. Good to see Hathor returning to the Broads,,joining the other iconic Wherries on the water.Always a joy to see them afloat. http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/wherry_to_return_to_broads_next_month_1_4041980
  24. I think they go back to the 70s maybe even the 60s when we used to visit the broads moored in the North end of the Broad,if I'm right .but a shame to see them in that state.
  25. Today found that the bins in South Walsham and then Upton have been removed ,so I hope we don't go back to seeing it strewn along the riverside as happened before. Also two portable toilets are now in the doorways of the Gents and Ladies toilets in the block in Fleet Lane I assume they are for the public ?
