  1. Hi Alan ,just seen this in the evening paper.Roy http://www.eveningnews24.co.uk/news/crime/boat_owners_warned_to_be_vigilant_following_spate_of_thefts_on_the_broads_1_4377802
  2. Point noted ,love our trips South but as we are near to the boat in North Norfolk it would be a shame to loose that convenience for short outings.
  3. When I'm on the boat is somewhere " comfortable " with good food, beer ,fairly priced and feeling like staying for the rest of the evening..The Waters Edge was not for us ,I believe it was Water Skying club night with a guy at the next table ( outside ) in a tooled down wet suit ,say no more
  4. Good idea John to rename thread ,as I did not see the other post, part " Senior Moment " as has been said the withdrawal of facilities and the difficult mooring at places like Horning and Ranworth to off load will have an effect on many like us as well the increasing loss of more of our favourite moorings and walks, making us wonder if it is worthwhile continuing as many of our boating friends have now sold their boats due to this trend.
  5. Where should the rubbish from boats be put ,the facility at Wroxham must deal with a vast amount from boaters alone..we moor at South Walsham and we have sen many bags left where people carry them along the path and just leave them, when they find no bins. There should be signs to tell before them when leave their boats to keep it with them. http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/politics/waterside_rubbish_collections_on_broads_set_for_further_cutback_1_4372959
  6. On the Look East interview ,it was stated the total cost for all the Batways was around £300.000 and appeared to have been ignored by their intended users.
  7. Hope everybody has a great Christmas and New Year Diane and Roy
  8. With the news today that the moorings in Horning a opposite the Ferry and on the island opposite the Swan are said to be closing there're will be no chance to stop and use the bins even if their still in place.
  9. I would have thought Horning would be an important place to have maintained collections, maybe more so than some of the others ? http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/environment/concerns_over_waste_on_broads_1_4343070
  10. Been shut on and off for a week now, could not come at a worse time with the Christmas Trade http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/weather/floods_cause_ferry_inn_horning_to_close_its_doors_for_almost_a_week_1_4337447
  11. Our thoughts go out to the family

  13. Sad news indeed, our thoughts are with you Diane and Roy
  14. Some great footage there. For those in and around Norfolk they have a Vulcan at the Aviation Museum at the back of Norwich airport ,to walk under and get close is brilliant amongst many other planes and a great museum there is a Nimrod which you can have a guided tour in side which has all the complete interior .A good place to visit in the area and only a few pounds .
  15. Ray is that because there the only ones that will let you in LOL
  16. Hi ,Alan showing ok and both links working on my I Pad same content slightly different wording.Regards Roy.
  17. Dredging to start on Hickling Broad following a meeting with the BA http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/environment/dredging_at_hickling_broad_due_to_start_next_week_1_4285825
  18. Isn't every thing different Charlie,I remember Osbourne's as a kid when the cockles were gathered by hand and they were bought ashore in wicker baskets along a plank, tipped in to the boiler and through the hole in the wall to be served up fresh at the outside tables.Diane loves her sea food and didn't complain when we visited earlier this year, ended up with a pile of empty dishes as usual Had nice walk up the pier as well but have to take the train back these days.Jean have a photo of my old Mums of me on the Tubs and by the Crooked house many years ago in Peter Pans ,we have one taken of the Grandchildren a few years ago on the Tubs but would like to know if they are still there
  19. Chris must agree ,Love the creeks around Walton ,one the best reads of this area is The Magic Of The Swatchways by Maurice Griffiths. We were in Cromer today very busy ,making the best of the sun.Jean that walk along the seafront we have done many times but some seafood and a drink in Leigh on sea and then an ice cream from Rossi's to complete the day and maybe a walk up the Pier .Luverly !
  20. Hi,Mandy,we have a centre cleat which we use when mooring. It pulls the boat in parallel to the bank and moor using this as well as the bow and stern cleats. To keep the boat into the bank we have a rubber rope tensioner which keeps the lines taut but stretches when wind or wash causes larger movement.
  21. If you are coming from the Norwich direction you will pass through this junction on the way to Acle on the A47.Diversions when closed are only at certain times Jim .
  22. Got caught up in the diversion due the the accident between Salhouse and Wroxham last night no diversion so every lane was chock a block with drivers trying to get round it.Had just spent ages getting through Postwick and this in the paper tells why .Lets hope it is sorted soon. http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/politics/apology_after_major_delays_at_27m_postwick_hub_junction_on_edge_of_norwich_1_4274889
