  1. I have a feeling iit was the Sunday we were there ,I was interested as we have a Bounty and the boat had got through on the Saturday and the chap on the boat said he had to have the boat back on Monday ! It was showing just over 6ft 6" with a bit of time to go before low water. Later saw thie boat go through with its extra " ballast " Well. done to the Pilot as a ready made audience must have added to the taskLWe have been through but never that tight
  2. Hi Alan ,the car park is on your left about half way between the Crown and Woodfordes brewery .The toilets and ( waste bins ???. ) are at the top of the path to the Broad..I believe the building proposed is just before the car park .If they succeed. I imagine they will then be after a drinks licence like many of the local cafes ? Not good for local pubs .
  3. On hold for now ,but these things seem to fall at the first hurdle and then eventually get through.Noticed the covers had been increased ? http://www.edp24.co.uk/property/salhouse_broad_tearoom_scheme_is_sent_back_to_the_drawing_board_after_unanimous_refusal_1_4736012

  5. News of plans for a tea room at Salhouse. It would possibly need extra parking and would not add to the area IMHO http://www.edp24.co.uk/property/salhouse_broad_tearoom_bid_sparks_concern_as_cafe_owner_says_it_would_strangle_trade_1_4731887

  8. Great job you and the team are all doing ,bet your all cream crackered after the last few days
  9. Sadly it seems all the bad news for our Broads are all about money ! Looking at many places on the river,Horning ,Wroxham,Waveney to name a few are now in parts like the designs we see in some of the housing developments we now see around, with the loss of that traditional " Broads Landscape ' we knew in the past.We visit Hickling and area as to me it is one of the remaining unspoilt areas left on the Broads that has not changed to much.Viking there was a petrol outlet there in the seventies, hand wheeled pump operated by Mr Beale at the garage across from the Dyke, Passing through that bridge ,is like going back ito past times. My thoughts are what happened to the "As Was " requirement needed some years back when you wanted to develop a property and had a shed load of restrictions to adhere to to make fit in ?
  10. The same man owned the Robin Hood in Sheringham when they took over the Rising Sun which I believe is still the case.
  11. Just heard from another forum that the Nelsons will not open today and the music will now be at the Rising Sun Coltishall
  12. So sorry for your news, but good to hear it is not spooling your trip.I think these yards should have a hot line to report these types of events ,they soon respond when their boats are in trouble.
  13. Some good points here.We have had gas alarms fitted and always near floor level.Where is the optimum position for a detector to be fitted ? Near bunk /seating around face level ? Gas engineer fitted ours about five feet up in the boiler cupboard,,some distance from the living and sleeping areas, should we have additional ones ?
  14. Just heard on the BBC aspokesman from Barnes. Brinkcraft saying they have Carbon Monoxide detectors on all their boats and it was said maybe that should be required for all boats to obtain the safety certificate.?
  15. This was Issued following the recent tragedy at Wroxham.it is something most of us have done at some time I imagine. To have it happen on a June day is of concern .should there be stronger rules regarding this practice.Very sad that this was the cause of this terrible event. http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/broads_carbon_monoxide_deaths_tragedy_triggers_urgent_warning_from_investigators_1_4649367
  16. Leo ,we had the same boat as you and found Ludham Bridge to show lower than the Overal clearance we needed to sail through, often four inches at least. .Here in North Walsham new signs have appeared on the railway bridges ,having lost an amazing six inches. Has not stopped the lorries getting stuck though !
  17. Just. Put on the radio and heard Wally Webb talking to Griff tied up in Gt Yarmouth .Sound got cut off so hope for more later.
  18. Left Blighty 3weeks ago in the cold and rain,on a Med Cruise and thought we did well with 28 degrees in Venice .got back yesterday over 30 degrees ,if only you could rely on it here.
  19. Two hour search by Hemsby inshore finds man in reeds in Acle /Stokesby area after going missing from boat.Lets hope he is OK. http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/coastguard_rescues_man_after_two_hour_search_of_the_river_bure_in_acle_1_4592620

  21. Chris,we moor in Bondons and that stretch from the end of the concrete road to the bank side has been bad for a long time. One of the reasons stated for the work was to make it more accessible for those with mobility problems, hardly any use if that part is not done as there is a puddle the full width of the lane and potholes to transverse when it rains before you get to the bank side path hardly any help to those who want to get to,the village or Farehaven.
  22. Hope the casualty is OK,Hemsby do a brilliant job and one wonders how we would fare without them on the Broads ? .A really nice bunch of lads and I hope they get all the support they deserve

  24. The Bridge restaraunt to be replaced by a two storey building ,let's hope it will not be ultra modern and in keeping with the bridge .? http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/restaurant_next_to_wroxham_bridge_could_be_rebuilt_if_vision_goes_ahead_1_4560295
