    A Snip

Marshman , at an NBN meet some years back at Salhouse the BA launch called in and the ranger showing us round told us that this one had a loo fitted under the seats as the Queen had been been on board during a visit ,did not say if it was used ? My silly side has thoughts of her Madg sitting waving as they travelled the waterway ! Whilst the Ranger steered a a steady course whilst in use ,I did not see any curtains ? Perhaps someone with a bit more connection with these craft could advise ? I am sure this one was dual power with a bank of batteries to drive the electric motor ? Just the sound of trickling water !then ! Ooh I am Awfull !
  2. Thanks for that ,were in Nrth Norfolk and went to Lincoln Christmas Market ,so did not see much of the rest, having normally passed through and not stopped ,will make a point of stopping there next time we venture up north.
  3. Could you imagine him running a boatyard ?
  4. Tonight BBC 2 at ten The second programme in this series .( number ones on catchup ). A look at a slightly different approach to the tourist facility run by a slightly eccentric owner.
  5. Hi Steve, we regularly have Spag Bol with Quorn mince well seasoned also shepherds pie made with Quorn , and chunky vegetable curry with rice all easy to do on the boat.Try different flavourings ,I am sure will find one to your taste.
  6. Not Wroxham, but visited The Showground yesterday.pleased to see a return to " boat jumble as aposed to a lot of trade stands who seemed to have matched prices .Do like rummaging through the boxes for some boating bargains that usually join the pile of Tresures in the shed to be used at a later date.! Nice morning out met a few friends and spent a few pennies, next one Museum of the Broads I think.
  7. Very wild in North Norfolk today.Saw a picture of a very large tree that had come down in Fleet Dyke across the bank and the river .there were boats moored not many feet away ,but luckily not at the spot ,would have been very nasty if there had have been.
  8. Shocked to see some well known eateries around the rivers are so low .I for one would not eat there until they reach a better score.Had a good meal at the Maltsters .Note they have 3 stars which is acceptable .I am told that it is not all dirty or unfit food but can include bad records or stock control ,but would welcome some possible reasons for them being so low as I don't understand can they not sort it out and be re tested ASAP ? Curious ?
  9. Thanks for that Jill, have a few cans in the shed ,but never catch the amnesty at the recycling centres .time for a clear out me thinks.
  10. Was on a friends boat which was hit and holed, the boat was going to make off but came back when hailed. He said blame the yard ! They did not show how to stop ! It was his first stop an hour after picking up the boat.
  11. Reading the quote they plan to ask you to report untaxed boats ,how will you know,do you ask nicely of boaters you meet ???? The manpower required to do this and contact you if they had a large influx of reports ? Also if they are providing a receipt could it not be display able in a window ,as are wq on cabin boats come laminated for open bats to display ? We put our visitors permit on their dinghy s in a water proof envelope tied to a thwart inside but viewable .
  12. In the paper today, how would he check Toll, type of boat ,propulsion etc on a crowded river Bure whilst navigating his own launch ? http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/politics/broads_authority_agrees_to_trial_paperless_tolls_system_after_printed_plaques_ink_smudging_problem_1_4462299
  13. As this is being built to provide a feed to the numerous areas being built on,I wonder if the builders will be making a contribution ? From their profits ?

  15. Just heard on the radio ,tourist report expecting a good Easter ,Saying come to Norfok ! Ranworth Saturday many people ,walkers, visitors and a Staithe full of boats. One domestic size wheely bin ,full mid afternoon ! Surely a trade size bin at least, would help .Ranworth must be up there as a sightseeing destination for boaters ,visitors to the Nature reserve, etc surely we can do better than that to provide the most basic disposal facility ? From Skip to domestic bin ,where is the logic in that ?
  16. Sorry, did not see existing post ,please move
  17. Quote. " When asked if they had considered installing Chinese signs in the national park, Bruce Hanson, tourism officer for the Broads Authority, said: “It is something we are thinking of doing, we haven’t done as yet but we very much intend to do it. " This bit caught my eye ! What budget would they come from ? And in the National Park ? Roy

  21. On the radio ,Prince Charles will visit the White Horse community pub and shop in UPTON today. It was said he is partial to Pork Scratchings and the spokes man said they would sell him a packet ,but he would have to pay as they give nothing away ! Would you ask him for the cash ? He said it has been very successful and I wonder if more pubs could go down this path ? 25. Karl's ,regarding the post of a car dropping off rubbish at B A Bins,we have kept our waste on the boat ,but on occasions have popped out in the car to the local shop and taken our bag to the B A compound marked "for boat refuse only " As i had paid a toll I feel I am entitled to use that facility as I was not going home and was continuing my time on the boat.Am I now going to be reported as in my eyes I am within the details of that notice ???
