  3. Spending this week at Potters Resort at Hopton for their Pre Christmas break having a great time so much to do.Many of the coach parties have bee taken out on excursions round the broads and found it very interesting Wroxham,Horning etc, unlike one lady we spoke to who had three hours in Yarmouth for their trip.
  4. That's interesting ,maybe we go over the top here in some people's eyes .one thing we will all raise a glass or two over the period, enjoy.
  5. Thanks Alan ,heading down from North Norfolk for a break at Potters first thing so may go via the A140 instead. .

  7. That time of year again, sending the cards so would like to wish our members all the best for Christmas and the New Year. Diane and Roy
  8. On Look East tonight a look back on the floods and that Hemsby is to get funding towards 200 mtrs of defences .Some people could not face staying and have moved away,a real shame.
  9. How quick that year has gone.Although much looks to be back to normal there are still places where there is work to be done..Local to us there are homes along from the main seafront at Walcott still wrecked, presumably uninsured and left as they were that night.Lots at Cromer ,but overall most has bounced back well.I know from our local news that much help came from the public donations ,which the NBN made a contribution and was greatly appreciated by all involved along our piece of the coast line.Fingers crossed for all this Winter. http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/how_north_norfolk_has_bounced_back_a_year_after_the_floods_1_3872813
  10. Ah Speedy you must have been one of those that would pass us on the Six Mile Bottom at Newmarket ,I was told that it was one of the few places that they could do a "ton"( 100 mph ) if you had the right bike ?
  11. Have not been that way since the by pass and did not know the Cafe was still .there.funny how you remember the food before the place.!
  12. I did hear they make checks on all aspects of the road the barriers ,as said ,road surface ,even the surface thickness of the Tarmac and road signs.before they sign it off and hand it over.i agree its been a tease all these weeks ,when it looks ready to use ,still will be up and running in time for Christmas ,all being well. Roy
  13. Driving to and from Norfolk since the 60s on the old A11 ,in those days it was on single lane roads which went through all the towns on the way taking many hours .i remember in those days we would stop at the memorial at Thetford for a rest ,top up the radiator ,and have some sandwiches and tea from a flask , sitting on the car rug that was a part of you travel kit.Now we will do that same journey to Norwich in theory with out having. to come to a halt at all. 14. We spent 10 years on the Ouse mooring at St Neots .A good river with many interesting and different places to see .Many of the mooring places were provided by GOBA the local boating association and were all around the system. The locks were a pain in busy periods but we made many friends passing through these locks together on our way along the waterway .We do miss it but enjoy the freedom of heading around the Broads knowing you will be at your destination at the time you estimated .We spent a day in the area recently as was surprised at the amount of liver-board canal boats on the public moorings, particularly Ely.For all this we are thinking of hiring a boat for a week to re visit our favourite haunts.Roy
  15. Up for a meet up round the Northern Broads ?
  16. Stowy, you bought back memories there of getting the plans for a Light Craft Nomad cruiser ,I am sure that was its name ? But never got further than looking at them and dreaming ,but eventually got a boat ,and still have ,but I think that sowed the seeds for me together with Coot Club to spend the last 40 or so years boating.I wonder how many Nomads got built and has any one seen one.
  17. Hi Beano ,family had roots in South London and I saw early years in the other side of the river.Found a Norfolk gal and have lived here for a few good years now .you will find a good bunch on this site.
  18. Members of our families were in both wars, as were many of yours were I am sure. ,so hard to forget.I was born in the war on the 11th of November so it not missed.
  19. We live local to this part of the coast and would love to catch sight of the whale, surprising how many people are down there looking ,same when a rare bird is spotted twitchers flock here in droves .Be nice if they can get some good footage.Roy
  20. Lovely day a few boats mud weighted and boats sailing on South Walsham broad yesterday .sadly I was winterising so could not join them. Roy
  21. Would not like to be in that spot,I think I would move away as soon as possible as I would not want to be around if that bank went any more ! I can't see them having trains running by one o clock somehow.?

  23. As there are so many places suggested and not enough squares could a list be made and places ticked so that all the squares reflect the suggestions as I have feeling that this is going to be for the long term especially if it can be playable and printed or an App and i for one would pay for this one as I play the normal game on the Pad and it is good. .as for the cards there are some brilliant suggestions and maybe the numbers would not be quite so restricted.Enjoying this thread as it is good to have something cheerfull that should not cause any dissent LOL
