Hi,
Quite amazing pictures.
I know how difficult it is to see anything with, light pollution, clouds, the telescope misting up and trying to hit a moving target. I suspect people do not realize quite how small a speck in the night sky the galaxies are.
Do you ever use a telescope up on the Broads?
Ian
Hi,
Have a look at the wash on this one (Check out the tender angle), one of the oldest traditional yards on the broads.
Even with a reef in a bit too exciting for me.
Taken last night.

Hi,
Here is the photo of bolt access hole on my mariner. The block clamps two rods together and joins the gear selector lever to the gearbox.
Mine came loose and I put the control lever into gear, pushed the lower gearbox rod into gear, then tightened the bolt.
I do suspect your system is more complicated with the lowering setup but worth a look.

Hi,
This might not be much help but I have two small (4hp) Mariner outboards. These have an inspection rubber bung at the base of the leg, these give access to a rod and clamp that engages the gears. If the clamp is loose or moved the outboard will not engage in gear or jump out when in use.
Ian
Paul, how did you do that and what did you use
The telescope is a meade etx 105, with a Canon 400d fitted.
I might have to work on the focus as the eyepeice adjust is out to the image via the telescope. When I last took the ETX up to the Broads I set it up on the bank, but as usual it became overcast and nothing was visible. What did happen was a cruiser came along thought the telescope was a speed camera!

Hi,
I am going to take my telescope on the boat the weekend and I might have a go at fitting a Canon 400d to it. I hoped to photograph the moon but the phase at the weekend is wrong!
Anyhow, what I would like to know is when it is possible, if I set the camera to black and white will the image be better than shooting in colour?
Ian
Perry,
A very good weekend was had by us, and it sounds like you enjoyed it as well.
Quite amazed at the pictures given the light levels, and the fact you caught the Heron on the top of the nest

David,
The lads will come up on Sunday so they can sort themselves out. Birds the tackle shop is one of the options for them. Liz remembers the early fishing days when someone spilt the maggots down the air vent on the hire boat, the vent was just over her bed and she had little visitors dropping in during the holiday!
For information this is the tackle shop, very easy to get to if you are going up the A14.

Thanks for the info.
I did think that might be the case. We have family on the boat next week and they will be doing a bit (well lots) of fishing, so it looks like an early trip to Potter Heigham.
Thanks
Ian
Hi,
I was in Norfolk Marine at the weekend and spotted Blakes number 1 varnish on offer, 6 375ml tins for £11.76. It looks like it is old stock and has been replaced with a new type with Tung oil. As I have used number 1 in the past and at that price I thought it bargain what do you think?
