  1. How strange! I've only just downloaded chrome a couple of days ago, and it's the only browser I haven't had any issues with just yet. IE does not like this forum or t'other side, and even Firefox was mucking up last week.
  2. I have been subscribed to it since day 1. The Editor, Neale, was as the Horning boat show.
  3. I have never once been asked for a rod license in nearly 40 years of fishing, even though I have always had a valid one. I have often wondered why the BA rangers don't check licenses, and I have even seen one pass an angler who was fishing during the closed season without so much of a glance. I guess up until now it has always been the EA who were responsible for checking licenses, but it makes sense for the BA to do so as well seeing as they are passing anyway. Quite why the police need to get involved is a bit of a mystery to me though.
  4. I get where you are coming from Robin, but I suspect you are far more critical than me given the standards of the videos you produce! I just like seeing John's videos of a motor boat at sea, and getting snippets of places . Given that it's just a standard S34 (a fair few of them on the broads) makes you realise just what these boats are capable of doing.
  5. "at least half inch spare" lol!
  6. Here's a few shots taken last Sunday as a few boats stopped at Scroby Sands on the way back from Southwold.
  7. Excellent find Trev! I really enjoyed the series of YouTube films he did about his two previous adventures (around Britain, and Biscay).
  8. WRC was £1.25/l for diesel and £1.75/l for petrol a couple of weeks ago. I think Brooms is £1.30/l diesel.
  9. Just changed the bulbs themselves, not the fittings. I got the 24 SMD ones off eBay to ensure they were good and bright. I have stuck some of the motion sensor ones in cupboards and wardrobes too, so they come on when you open the door and stick your hand in. Very handy for dark spaces! They were these ones when Amazon had them for about £5 each http://www.amazon.co.uk/Philips-SpotOn-Motion-Sensor-One-Pack/dp/B000PVX678/ref=pd_sim_light_9?ie=UTF8&refRID=1KF4EY69S11KKYGGRNES
  10. Something you could consider doing as well is to replace all your lighting with LED's. We have a total of 15 lights on Secret Lady which all had 10W halogen bulbs, each drawing nearly an amp (not that they were usually on all the time of course) and the drain shown on the ammeter was quite considerable. We have since swapped these for warm white LED's which give just as much light but barely register on the ammeter when on. Obviously this doesn't refer to you original question at all, but does help conserve battery power when off shorepower for a night or two.
  11. I've never had a six pack, but been blessed with a Watneys party 7 in it place! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  12. I've always fancied having a small boatyard hiring out half a dozen luxury cruisers to discerning folks. As long as I didn't need it to make a profit I'm sure it'd be fun!
  13. I did the same and sold my Canon 50D as it was simply getting a pain to carry around! I bought an Olympus EPL-3 Pen Lite with two lenses and macro/fisheye/wide converters and the photos it takes are better than the Canon imho. The only thing that lets it down is the pathetic flash!
  14. It's always worth checking on eBay for second hand lenses and cameras. There is some very good stuff on there at much less than the brand new price. I have bought several lenses and cameras on there and they have all been very good indeed and much cheaper than new.
  15. I don't know anything about specific Nikon lenses, as I have always been a Canon user myself. However, I would certainly agree a decent zoom lens is a good idea for photographing wildlife etc on the Broads. My zoom lens was 70-300mm, and was image stabilised to ensure the pictures are sharp. I would certainly recommend getting a lens with image stabilisation, as trying to get sharp photos when the zoom is extended can be quite difficult without a tripod or from a moving platform like a boat, without resorting to very fast shutter speeds which just aren't suitable sometimes.

We got given one when we hired San Moritz for the Salhouse meet, and I thought it was pretty good. Not quite bang up to date as it didn't show the new moorings at Harley Cross, but good enough.
  17. Glad to hear you were happy with their service; they have never let me down yet. A few years back I bought a battery charger from them. It was fine for a while and then died just a week after the warranty ran out. I mentioned it to Tanya, who asked for the unit to be returned. Imagine my surprise when a couple of weeks later she had negotiated with the supplier and got me a 50% refund on the original price, even though it was out of warranty!
  18. That's a very interesting bit of lateral thinking there! Just don't keep it in the drawer of your computer desk!
  19. It's all very well everyone saying don't use the same password, but how many of us can actually retain twenty different passwords in our memory? I do use an app called SecureSafe to record them, but the only other way it to write them down which is also a no-no. How do you get over that?
  20. I think I've found that bug. Trust you, Trev, it's called a Cockchafer (aka May bug). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cockchafer
  21. That was one on my shortlist anyway Alan, so thanks for the confirmation. I saw the Ponty-whatsit aqueduct on TV a few weeks ago and thought "I've got to do that!"
  22. Not sure about that bug, it looks a bit like a cardinal beetle but a bit pointy! Still, plenty to go around if carved correctly!
