Genclean was a branded suppiler of the above chemical. One hazzard was, if a smoker was in the vicinity of the carbon tetra chloride fumes, it would produce some really poisonous compounds when heated, ie when passing over the heated cigarette. Best thing they did was to ban it, but it was used extensivly in the 1970's for degreasing circuit boards prior to soldering, and as a flux remover afterwards.
