Aboattime
we have been moored for the past 3 years in Wroxham at a well known yard, and are thinking of changing for a southern mooring next year.Ive looked at a lot of yards and marinas on line, but theres nothing like recommendations. We require electric, water, pump out ,an on site engineer would be good.We have cruised the southern rivers before, and were really looking for a change of scene..Also any body wanting to "go the other way",perhaps we could do a swap? Its not written in stone that we will make the move, but the crew are considering it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
ChrisB
Unless both moorings are owned by the same company or you actually own moorings yourself, "doing a swap" is not easy.
NorfolkNog
I'd highly recommend Swancraft at Brundall. All facilties and Paul the owner is an excellent engineer. Not sure if he has space but well worth giving Paul a bell. Phone number on the sponsors panel to the right of your screen
Guest
Have a think in advance about if you want a floating pontoon or not. It does not make much odds at Wroxham, but certainly something to consider on the South

Simon
Are you the type to jump on board and get cruising or do you like to stay in the marina, What about getting to the marina by car, distance to travel is it a factor for you.
Aboattime
Distance by car is not a problem as we travel up from Kent so if any thing the southern rivers are nearer. As soon as the boat is loaded then were of cruising ( well as soon as the wife has had here fill of Roys ! ).I suppose pontoons are the best option,so how do non pontoons moorers get on with the rise and fall of the tides, my wifes knees arnt that good so the easiest option for getting aboard would be good. Thanks to every one so far for there comments. Regards Kevin .
NorfolkNog
I don't think the tide is so much of an issue further up river. Brooms possibly have pontoons but a cheque book job I suspect.

I Moor in Brooms, not the prettiest marina but does have floating pontoons which does make life easier, Cost wise i thought was inline with the others we looked at
ExSurveyor
Brundall gardens have mostly pontoons in the narina, from a fixed bank it can be a challenge to get onboard.
Liberty
Plenty of non-floating pontoon moorings, fine with springs. Not an issue. Brundall Gardens is quite good. No pump out as far as I can remember (it's been 2 or 3 years since we were there). It also depends what type of boating you do; if you want to have a blast across Breydon or go to sea frequently, the Reedham is probably the best location although limited facilities, or Oulton Broad/other side of Mutford lock. Lowestoft Haven is very nice, but you can't get into the Broads except by Mutford.

oldgregg
Brundall is a nice spot to be moored but as others have said you do ideally want to be on a pontoon as the tidal range is quite considerable.Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
ZimbiIV
Tide is not a problem for us at Cove it is high we just put a step out to stand on. paul
Norfolk Spirit
If you are still looking, talk to NYA at Brundall. They have recently purchased more moorings and will have all you require when completed. Smoggy
I moor near postwick viaduct on a fixed edge and don't find it a big problem as long as you use springs when tying up.
