NorfolkNog
Crown is very small and cosy although I had an idea it had closed at some point I did briefly consider the Cross Keys at Dillham as I've not managed to get in for a good while now, not like I remember it though...... boycee
Hi Howard The Crown was closed for a few weeks while the new Landlady Linda got the place sorted out. It re-opened late May and we have been in a couple of times. Beer was good and would be to your taste, food being served looked good and she had almost finished refurbing the Restaurant. Plans to have live music nights and appears to be well supported by the locals. Linda and her husband used to have The Crown at Trunch until he sadly died, and until she took The Crown at Smallburgh she worked for Sonia at The Ferry House Surlingham. She's a nice lady and runs a good pub Boycee
Gracie
17 hours ago, Jayfire said: Tuesday 7th August Once again we had a beautiful summer's morning in Potter Heigham on the quiet moorings with sunshine and a warm breeze. I did the normal jobs and sat having a coffee, thinking where to head out today. Whilst daydreaming (it happens an awful lot) with my brew I heard a woman shouting and sounding quite upset. Looking behind my boat a family fresh out on the rivers from Barnes yard (if I remember correctly) were trying to moor up but the lady was struggling to keep hold of the ropes as her partner tried to get the boat near the bank. I managed to go and help them out pulling the boat alongside and hold it in place as they set up their anchors and tied the boat up. I left them to have their domestic in peace after they were secure and they thanked me for my help. Assistance over it was time to head off at around 0930, so casting off and turning around I headed back down the Thurne and rejoined the Bure and head in the direction of Wroxham. The rivers were busy all the way, the odd strange decisions along the way but overall everyone seemed in good spirits as they moved along the water. As we reached The Ferry Inn at Horning the moorings were fairly quiet and so took the opportunity to moor up and head in for a drink. Quick refreshments over it was around 1200 so we decided to stop for a baguette and another drink before walking down the road into Horning village. Everyone went looking in the shops for a few supplies as I gave the dog some much needed respite from the heat sat in the New Inn beer garden. With a beer of course. Shortly after we walked back up to the Ferry Inn which by now had begun to start double mooring and prepared to head off once more. Turning around I headed back along the Bure the way we had come and proceeded up the River Ant and through Ludham Bridge. The moorings were busy but not quite full, the normal August fun and games were kicking off around the moorings and bridge but we safely passed through and continued on. By the time we had wound our way along the peaceful river and reached How Hill it was nearly 1600 so we stopped off and had a brew with the buns bought from Lathams.I'm not really a sweet guy but ate one anyway to keep me going. Suitably refreshed we continued up the Ant and over Barton Broad, taking a trip up towards cox's yard and passing the Paddys Lane moorings which were fullso I headed towards Stalham. The final leg of the days journey was beautiful along the upper Ant, arriving in Richardson's yard at around 1730. Once secured I showered and then filled with water before heading into Stalham for a few beers, firstly In the Grebe, and then the Swan Inn. We headed back to the boat later on for more games with the kids and a bit of tea before eventually heading off to bed. The pictures of the Ant are stunning babe, thank you for posting I love the wild moorings there if you can bag one this time of year, lovely and secluded Grace

SwanR
Now I don’t usually participate in these shenanigans as I don’t generally go in pubs! But is this The Maltsters? My only reasoning is the blue and white colours. :)
