Andrew. A friend of ours moved to a village near the banks of Loch Ness, about 15 miles from Inverness. He sent me these pictures on Thursday, when it was snowing. Don’t worry about the 5mm of snow you might get, just be grateful that you won’t be dealing with this!

Up here in Bonnie (cold) Scotland , we do have a chuckle , when the national news ( basically London local 😄) have headline news when down South get a dusting of snow , while up here , a foot of the stuff isn't worth a mention 😂😂. On the same kind of subject , I notice that Andy Murray is Scottish again today, for the last week he has been British 😋🤗 1
HEM
There is a bit more snow at Crater Lake Visitor Centre (Oregon, USA)... We've been there twice - but without snow (or only very little)!

MauriceMynah
Brrrr indeed. Ice all over the yard but, I suspect it's thinning. Sorry report a little late! 1
MauriceMynah
Ice still on Richardson's yard but thinning all the time. I reckon it'll be gone tomorrow or day after.

MauriceMynah
It's thicker than I thought. One of Richardson's finest did some ice breaking just now.the noise was horrible but it got through. Still slowly thawing.

johnm
That's ages away! In the meantime, a good week (preferably 2) of freeze might go some way to thinning the weed on Hickling so that navigation outside the channel is possible this year!

We are back in just over a fortnight. Confident it will be warmer then. It had better be or the pub takings will be down a bit. 1
MauriceMynah
Ice still covering Richardson's. Seems to be holding steady.
MauriceMynah
Update. Ice vastly thicker than I estimated. Richardson's tug has been breaking it up a bit. Some patches were nearly an inch thick. Wow! Wasn't expecting that. 1
MauriceMynah
Well, after a lot of rain last night, the ice APPEARS to have gone. Richardson's have been moving boats around and I haven't heard any alarming noises or seen any avoiding navigation from them. I can't believe ALL the ice has gone but I can see none. It is much warmer out, tempting me out from under the duvet before 10:00 am! 1 3

MauriceMynah
Today there are no visible signs of ice. A boat did go past me earlier, and I did hear a strange noise, but I won't say for sure if it was ice or not. There is one of Richardson's finest moving about at the moment, using its bow thruster, and that makes a similar noise.
MauriceMynah
I think I can with some confidence report that the ice is now finally clear at Richardson's yard 2
