Waking The Boat Up

Hi all,

Whens the best time to wake the boat up from her winter slumber?

Im aiming for mid March but I need the hive mind’s knowledge

Keep a good check on the weather first, a sudden stratospheric warming event is occurring at the moment which is what caused "the beast from the east", apparently it can take 3-4 weeks to filter down through the atmosphere and tends to reverse wind direction so we get wind from siberia.

May not happen like that but be aware.

I normally use mine throughout the winter but owing to some niggling health problems haven't been down to the boat as often as I should, but about the third week in March we'll have to be on board as our bathroom is being replaced and I need somewhere to wash and crap But I'm sure everything will fire up without a problem including heating, fingers crossed, so in answer to posters question mid-March seems a good time, go for it

Got caught out this year before Christmas. 
could have been really expensive but luckily the domestic pipes below waterline never froze only the taps. 
Same with the engine pipe works 

Developed a better way of getting the antifreeze in

We'll be waking ours up in 2-3 weeks time. Hopefully by then the beast (if it comes) will have gone back to the east. If not, we will leave the tube heaters on and the taps open when we leave the boat.

ours is hopefully going back in the water this weekend (if we get all our remains winter maintenance tasks completed) - though we will have the tube heaters on via a thermostat, if it gets too cold.
