The Broad was laid today!

Rolled out of bed with the rising sun, everything looked gorgeous. Spot of fishing was called for, waddled down the garden to find the the Broad was laid, covered in ice, no fishing. Lunchtime came so we walked down to the Wherry Hotel for a gut-busting carvery. The Broad was still laid by the Yacht Station, no fishing this evening either. Oh well, at least the forum isn't iced over!

PW - i am reminded by that of a birding friend of mine who refuses to use the word"seagull" !!! Says they all have real names!!

Shy-Talk being one particularly apt one! I would never harm one, blessed critters, but why do they abuse my boat cover so?

Would have thought that there are far more seagulls than there are available christian names!

No such thing as a "Seagull" ....,. Wrong. Seagull is the accepted word for any predominately white sea bird. It has been in the language for many years, perhaps centuries. It's almost like saying "There's no such thing as a duck".

I thought they had 'stumps' in cricket and 'posts' in football? Although it might explain the 'Toon's' current run of form caught in a relegation battle for silly mid off playing like googlies before tea with all transfers decided by a committee and you must have seen the camel which is a horse designed by committee. Personally I'd rather see Boycott playing up front with a few gentle touches from D'oliveira from the wing into the penalty area avoiding the off side trap behind cover.
