I was in Munich in about 2000, Lovely place, and my German improved no end. By the end of my stay I was able to say "sorry, my German is not very good" fluently.

There are many words that sound Scottish in the German language. A dear friend of mine,  use to go to Kulmbach as it was town twinned with Kilmarnock. The Echt Kulmbach beir was strong stuff! Please excuse my spelling if it's incorrect, Frank.
