  1. And what a nice day to be burning some diesel
  2. This might help give you a flavour a quick something I put together of our trip down to the Orwell in 2007 before we went 'native' Also some photos and comments on pilotage viewtopic.php?f=37&t=2518&hilit=east+coast&start=10
  3. I can thoroughly recommend Shotley. 24 hour lock, fully serviced Marina; Visitors berths are generally not a problem but advisable to book ahead. Oh and The Shipwreck is an added bonus. more info http://www.eastcoastmarinas.co.uk/index ... 2&Itemid=3 http://www.eastcoastmarinas.co.uk/pdfs/ ... idance.pdf Give us a shout nearer the time if you need any further assistance
  4. The BBC doing what the BBC does best. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0 ... _of_Essex/ If you want to watch it all persevere through the first 12 minutes of scene setting it does step up a gear. 13.30 minutes in is some great footage of the Walton Backwaters and the Ginger Seals - and the reason they are Ginger. 24.30 Tits with Beards 27 Fantastic footage of Barn Owls hunting 32 Peregrines Foxes, Badgers, Bluebells Wild Life of Jaywick Sky at Night The contrast of the nature coexisting with our Urban landscape I found fascinating
  5. I can recommend the Flare Demo Seriously Harwich RNLI Station gave an excellent talk to our club in the summer which ended with a Flare Demo. Its not the sort of thing you are likely to have practised so well worth the chance if you can see one.
  6. Certainly gives a new meaning to 'wet room' Better post some more Clive to move us away from this line of thought
  7. A certain gent was seen around Stalham last week so it could be.......
  8. Joking aside this has been worth its weight in Gold. The Webo equivalent of Easystart
  9. I think they are there or there abouts Mark I have used them for my Yanmar parts both Rackheath and of late Levington always very helpful. Benefit is they are on your doorstep so always available for advice. I looked at the Yanmar spares kit and came to the conclusion as many on this thread that purchasing the items individually works out much more cost effective with the added knowledge that you are buying what you need rather than what they think you will need. For Yanmar I have always purchased genuine Oil Filters but engine and primary Racor Filters I keep my eye on ASAP Supplies who do the Yanmar match and wait for one of their periodic offers and stock up at that point. Can't have too many as back up in my view. Don't forget spare belts.
  10. Ah that's what it is. Ours has a glass plate on the top so that you can see in, I thought it was a Shrimp Trap
  11. Part of boating Jimbo....... Webos and Lavvys
  12. The sunset is a really atmospheric shot Pete
  13. Nice shots Martin and proof if ever any where needed that it does not matter how much it costs but who is behind it
  14. I take my hat off if that beast can be used at cruising speed in an East Coast chop Its something I can't manage and shoot anything half decent
  15. Now you are seeing the issues I have been having. Adam a 1DMk111 with 100-400L while helming at sea is not a viable option..... I have tried it One of the reasons I supplemented it with G11
  16. I am an angler but sorry this is just some anglers not wanting their favourite haunts dredged in case it disturbs the fishing, what most of them want is relatively shallow water. There are of course a few theories floated with scare tactics attached but I think this group forget they contribute nothing to the upkeep of the Broads as toll paying boat owners do. The most amazing thing to me is a certain PB who has at every opportunity knocked, criticised and harangued the BA to step up dredging has obviously had a road to Damascus moment and is against this initiative. Oh unless dregding is done in a certain way at a certain time and after much study. The BA has a statutory duty to maintaining navigable waterways; the Broads is for all not just a single interest group Funny Oulton Broad was perfectly fine to do If you have the interest and can't sleep see here: http://www.speakerscorner.com/forum/topic1042
  17. Obviously did not make myself clear I thought you might be posting up various links etc (pack) for anyone interested in rowing their own boat but having not been before. I will retire to the snug
  18. I would hate to be the quiz master I recall a question regarding Navigation in and out of Lowestoft for first time 'salties' the attached might be useful for your 'pack' Ian http://www.lowestofthavenmarina.co.uk/navigation.asp http://www.lowestofthavenmarina.co.uk/s ... al&ext=gif
  19. I can still only see it referred to as:
  20. Don't forget there are 46 berths now in Hamilton Dock
  21. Thanks Paul, An excellent link with plenty of interest. I did follow this race on MBM but had no idea you were on OP. It was certainly an eventful trip which if a recall got off to the worst possible start. Completing the circumnavigation in those conditions was really some feat so hats off to you
  22. Why would you want to turn to port exiting Lowestoft Pierheads
  23. Has been updated and quite a useful product on your PC
  24. I found the thread. http://www.ybw.com/forums/showthread.ph ... T+YARMOUTH Paul may be able to shed further light on it. I do agree with Paul sentiments re Yarmouth for visitors; its about time they made it more welcoming than moored against the wall at Town Hall Quay.
  25. I did read a thread on the big boys site I think it might have been new member BM who went into Yarmouth for fuel and got a £70.00 'vistors' charge
