  1. I too like that variation in layout Robin. The difference between "Sunlit Horizon" and "Royall Commander is that the bathroom space is a sleeping cabin but we use it as a stash cabin which is great to get things out of the way! This makes it a 4 berth with storage space! Trevor
  2. Bought with the proceeds of a 40 year career in the NHS in 2011. Spent an obscene amount on woodwork and upgrading since and had just a few "problems"! This scan is of the original brochure cover from 1972 and "Glenmore"'s page and this is actually mine shown! Nobody ever said boating was cheap! "Glenmore" was built in 1966. Trevor
  3. Can we have categories please Dan? Purely as a hireboat my favourite is "Royall Commander", the Aquafibre Pearl for its superbly practical layout and, of course, Royall's meticulous presentation. My favourite boat though, because it just looks like it belongs to the Broads and nowhere else along with its beautiful lines is the Broadland Heron Class from Ripplecraft who were at Somerleyton. Especially this one!!!
  4. That's fair comment and I appreciate it being an obvious interested party! But Moores and Ernest Collins have nothing as far as I know. Trevor
  5. Not least Normans as I do know there are quite a few on the Broads! But what about Moores and Ernest Collins? Both major yards and builders? Trevor
  6. Was a Moores boat when on hire but they did name a Dawncraft and an Aquafibre "Glenmore" as well. BB have sold that one though I think. Reedham is a possibility on the return trip! Trevor
  7. Too true Matt. BB Boat??? Nay, she's all mine. Will be up north at some stage but starting with the power boats at Oulton Broad on Thursday night! Maybe Rockland tomorrow night. Spoilt for choice for the first night out. Will be at Sonia's for the last night methinks. Trevor
  8. Will be out on "Glenmore" for a week from tomorrow. Last trip out saw the death of my battery charger, time before that a rather large bill for a new prop shaft ..... prior to that prop eats rope trick! I've yet to have a trouble free trip out so here's hoping this time might be it! Trevor
  9. With a boat of that standard Andy and Royall's reputation for maintaining I think I could likely stomach all that orange! I suspect most folks view will be only paint grp in desperate circumstances. It might be a bit more forgiving inside the boat but I'd get hypnotherapy to convince me of the merits of orange! I've hired from Royalls so understand the amount of orange you are referring to! If I had the wherewithall (brass!) I'd buy a Royalls boat yesterday! Trevor
  10. And I'm moored right inside the wetshed door! Well, almost! Next to Dinger!
  11. That's yet another very well thought out craft Clive! Its occurred to me that a somewhat shorter version may well be hugely popular judging by the number of hires you get on the mid sized "Gem" and similar boats. Have there or might there be any thoughts of you producing a shorter version? Trevor
  12. Mind you, who really wants to sit and catch endless equivalents of dead, very slimey wet floor cloths? Give me some roach, perch and an occasional chub anytime! Sorry you bream slayers! Trevor
  13. May well sound boring and dull but, strictly by catch numbers, my most successful spot on the northern waters was in Herbert Woods yard! Trevor
  14. I fish a lot and, maybe surprisingly, I don't mind the closed season! Unfortunately not all anglers are angels and the banks and fishing holes take some hammer. This is especially noticable on the Broads. At least they get a chance to recover. As for closed season fishing, the canals are open all year around and, nowadays, provide some superb fishing. Built up industrial areas invariably have a canal! Trevor
  15. Its a shame Weatherspoons didn't take on the Loaves & Fishes but I think its now all residential accomodation. Really is a shame as it was a great place to have a pub! Usual tale though, too many folk walked past or supped their own! Trevor
  16. I thought A.S.A.P were somewhere in Beccles?? http://www.asap-supplies.com/ Trevor
  17. And if you add to that the coverage t'other place has got for Richard's efforts and the piece about "Broad Ambition", Broads users are doing quite well it seems! Trevor
  18. Hello John and thanks for taking such an interest! Yes, you have hit on the point I am trying to make. I don't think my invertor is correctly installed. I would understand if either the consumer unit or supply post tripped out but they don't. Its always the invertor itself. The reason I'm "digging" on this one is I'm concerned what caused my charger to die! It is a good quality Sterling Pro Charge and is, supposedly, entirely suited to be left on continuous charge when the boat is left. The other consequence of the current wiring is that I also have to leave the invertor switched on for the charger to function. This also applies to the tube heaters in winter. This is why I'm reluctant to simply have the charger repaired or replaced and put back as is! I am determined to get to the bottom of this and, next time down, will try and arrange for HJ to come and have a peruse! I'm actually still waiting for a verdict on the damaged charger from Brian Ward. Thanks again for all the help and suggestion. Trevor PS. John, out of interest and just in case, what charger do you have on offer please?
  19. I think they are both 2kw. I know that exceeds the capacity of the invertor but should not the shore supply be independent of the invertor? Trevor
  20. You miss my point. I'm puzzled why the direct 240 supply is not independent of the invertor??? Maybe I should have made it clear that I only tried to run two heaters whilst hooked up to shore power. Trevor
  21. Thanks for the responses folks. My problem stems from the simple death of a battery charger. Having said that, I had lots of extra stuff added to Glenmore when I bought her such as emersion heaters, invertor, tube heaters and 240v ring main. I'll not say who did the work but it all seems a tad wierd in that when using the 240 supply two fan heaters trip out the invertor and, oddly, the whole supply! So, before simply replacing ther charger I want someone experienced to have a peek at the installation and give an opinion. Trevor
  22. I am at Brundall Gardens but, to my knowledge, they don't have an electrician. They have not yet really got the work side set up yet apart from lifts and anti fouling. Engineer has not yet started full time down there either. Trevor
  23. I've been looking at the ad for CT Electricians but can see no reference to undertaking 12/24v work on boats. Anyone know any different? Failing that, anyone have a strong recommendation for a marine electrician who will cover Brundall? Trevor
  24. Robin must walk backwards at Potter! Trevor
