  1. Have you any more pictures of the topsides Macroft? I have a wee suspicion that yours may actually be a Norman 18.5!
  2. Or even this? This page was done for us by Graham who was the son of the Norman founder Ernie. http://www.normanboats.co.uk/brief_history_of_norman_cruisers.htm
  3. There are two much bigger models that were built just before Norman packed up. The Norman 266 and Norman 29 with 9' 6~ and 10' beams respectively. You might be surprised to learn that they also produced a rag on a stick version! This page may be of interest! http://www.normanboats.co.uk/norman_range.htm
  4. The only Normans with genuinely planing hulls are the 18, 20 and wide beam 22. The rest are displacement and were specifically built/designed for use on the canals.
  5. I'm assuming these mooring are on Langley Dyke. If so its a lovely spot and I wouldn't hesitate having a mooring there. Of course it was even better when the Wherry was still open! The fact that there is parking is good of course!
  6. What model of boat have you found Steve? We are now't if not nosey on here!
  7. I should have said up to 24' for Craftinsure. We had a bit of sponsorship from them on the Norman site and persuaded them to extend their "no survey" policy so that the most popular models of Normans were covered.
  8. CraftInsure will also insure on that very same basis.
  9. Don't take Leeds too lightly! The place has come on leaps and bounds over the last few years. I grew up there then moved to Wakefield and watched from afar! Leeds Arena is just about the best live entertainment venue I have ever been in and I've been in a few!
  10. I suspect that Jon knows more than most about Royalls!
  11. Tell me more about the invertor please Frank! Pleased to see you found your next boat almost as quickly as me!
  12. Thanks for that one Howard, Yes, it was a very pleasant watering hole although not to everyones taste!
  13. 1972, two 18 year old lads started nurse training. Poverty wages but we booked two weeks on "Spitfire" from Alphacraft. A 26' rear cockpit woodie. We had the Hoseasons map that had beer glasses for pubs and we truly visited EVERY one! God knows where we found the money! We loved it though and it became an annual pilgrimage!
  14. She was a Moores built Bourne 35 and was in the hire fleet under that name. The new owner now has an original copy of the hire brochure from Moores.
  15. Aye, Bertie at Wayford doesn't do a bad job does he! Also sold "Glenmore" for me! So to all the team! Jon, Teresa, Mike and Matt.
  16. And if you are in the Brundall area Peachments would help and I've yet to think of anything that Brian Ward's can't source!
  17. Of course we do Carol. Keep them coming. Have you any of the old "Loaves and Fishes" ? Tragic that an imbibing establishment so convenient to the moorings disappears!
  18. Lets just say its a bloody long way! 185 miles! Once I pass the tractors I feel a whole lot better though!
  19. I may be a dinosaur in that I often judge a pub's catering offerings by the Sunday lunch menu. When I see such descriptions as "caramelized", "ju" instead of gravy, Sautéed Savoy, and Rosemary Roast Potatoes I flee to a much more basic description. Can't be doing with "messed about" Sunday dinners!
  20. Here is a working link to the youtube video for anyone that is curious! Interesting video with a good soundtrack too!
  21. Alan Johnson Boats were in a big green shed next to Acle Bridge, (GY side)
  22. As far as bedding is concerned, one of the easiest solutions is to use sheet sleeping bags. They are available in single or double. Really saves on the bruised head when making up the beds, frustration with odd shaped mattresses and will also slip inside standard sleeping bags to reduce cleaning costs.
  23. Ahhhh yes Strow! Sorry about that! Herewith ..... Welcome to this listing for a 20' Norman cabin cruiser. It is with a heavy heart that I must pass on this boat as work commitments have left me with no time to put finishing touches to and, more importantly, enjoy this boat. If you wish to spend some time looking you will find that with a small amount of work this boat will be worth well in excess of £4500.here is some of the work completed Re fitted bulkheads, seating, flooring, storage and transom with marine grade ply and fibreglassed and flow coated the rear section (approx £1500), chequer plate fitted on step point at the rear and on transom (£100),all windows re sealed, front and side circle windows replaced with light tint perspex (£380),entire hull sanded, 2 coats of primer and 3 coats of marine gloss white paint, new rear cover and hatch cover professionally fitted (£430) Evenrude 25hp 2 stroke engine and steering control fitted (£850). These are the main bits but obviously this does not include other small bits like fixtures and fittngs which have all been replaced ie, fenders, ropes, cleats etc and the time and effort that went into it! Along with the multitude of works on the exterior the interior has also been insulated with 90mm celotex, resealed, fibreglassed and gelcoated for the whole cabin hull. And gelcoated up to the windows. New benches have also been built, with an aluminium board cut and ready to stick for the kickboards. The top half of the cabin has had a good sand in preparation for gelcoating. There is a small amount of silicone needed around the windows but apart from that this boat is ready to go on the water with the rest of the work being superficial and additions to your personal level of luxury. This boat has been out side and had a little use since pictures but with a good wash will be back up to tip top condition. Boat is Currently dry docked in Wraysbury and there is a possibility of delivery for an extra cost . Any questions or buy now offers please call john 07702294900
  24. There is at least one being offered via my forum. Looks to have the prospects of a good buy as well! http://www.normanboats.co.uk/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=7299 They are free ads by the way so no financial interest for me!
