  1. When you say "one of these", do you mean the rechargeable one or the one that Bill bought???
  2. Now the Aquafibre Pearls such as "Royal Commander" really is a top class design for the Broads. Really well designed spaces in the Royals examples makes a spacious boat for 4 without having to make up beds! I was surprised to see Royals actually selling them.
  3. I "discovered" these today! http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/streetwize-dehumidifier-p262981 I was going to buy the usual chrystals but took a chance on a pair of these! Had a long conversation with staff trying to figure out how they worked! The burning question being "Where does the water go"??? They were no wiser than me. Blurb talks about absorbable glass balls ...... Suggests they may last for months between charges. I can only imagine that, somehow, the recharging period dries out the glass balls for the next use! The charging period is 24 hours. If they actually work I will be highly delighted!
  4. Absolute pig of a boat! Nothing more to say about the thing!
  5. People painting? First time I've ever heard of that as a reason to sod orf! I'm very much afraid paint brushes might have appeared in strange orifices should I have encountered that! Especially at one of my favorite mooring spots!
  6. There actually used to be a sign by the staithe saying shop 1 mile! I suspect it was the absolute shame at such exaggeration that it was eventually taken down!
  7. Nobody seems to have mentioned "Barkeepers Friend" ! Has always been recommended to me for this very purpose.
  8. Or the British by the Germans .......
  9. A great watch as that coincides with my own first Broads voyage. There do appear to be a couple of occasions when they are chugging along at a heck of a rate! Mind you, all things from Yorkshire are supercharged!
  10. Also looked to be a glimpse of a Powles "Star Premiere" at Reedham Ferry. Couldn't quite see which one though!
  11. More recently, the shaggy haired fella with his wife at the "Nelsons Head" at Horsey was a character! As well as an avid collector of all manor of objects, he was also something of an astronomer! Had me out on the beer garden with his telescope star gazing a couple of times after shutting. Ideal way up there as there was minimal light pollution. Good grub as well, banned such evils as "squirty cream" from the place! Reckoned to be retiring onto a narrow boat on the canals. Hope he is happy chugging between all those locks. Anyone know if he managed it? Was a "proper" pub with just a lounge and tap room.
  12. AlphaCraft will nearly always sell their boats. Why not look at "Blenheim" and see what they might want?
  13. Is bottom left the "inlet" you pass on the right as you enter Oulton Broad?
  14. Royall's still do this as far as I know!
  15. The main bar at the Ferry is more suited to drinking and blathering than troughing in my opinion. There is a separate dining area and the little side room used to be a pool and darts room and should be again. Outside speaks for itself. Very nice frontage with moorings and the usual tables. Has all the ingredients to thrive as a local again given the right landlord/lady.
  16. Adnams have The Ferry at Stokesby on offer. Being a brewery likely means it will stay a pub. I don't know a lot about business figures but it seems an attractive opportunity for a budding publican. Shame its not for sale Dave!! http://adnams.co.uk/pubs/pub-tenancies/
  17. Just has to be the best reason ever to chug to an area where there is absolutely zero TV reception .....
  18. Craghoppers used to be good old Yorkshire togs made in the metropolis of Batley but I'm not so sure this is still the case nowadays! They have grown a tad! Always been known as quality stuff though!
  19. As I recall, a certain personality residing around Loddon bought the right to "Hamiltons" with the intention of updating but, sadly, ill health intervened!

    Petrol

Didn't Martham do petrol?? I seem to recall a pump there??
  21. Nobody seems to mention the ever reliable bread! A good lump of flake will catch roach and bream and even the odd carp if there are any about. I find that the Warburtons orange thick sliced white is best and easiest to use in terms of staying on the hook. Pinch a lump hard and hook through the flat bit!
  22. Totally different Breydon experience. Our first ever Broads holiday on "Spitfire" from Alphacraft. No not the big shiny one but a wooden 25' boat. Was chucking it down and blowing a gale as we left the Berney Arms and the adventure took off big time! Started off with a few chuck you about waves but these just got bigger and bigger. Its no exageration to say she buried her nose and then the stern would rise out of the water and we would hear the prop squealing away. Wave actually broke over the cabin. It was magnificent and we loved every second. We were hardy 20 year olds and didn''t know any better. Sadly we have never ever had anything even close to that again even though we actually used to head for Breydon if the weather turned grey! No Rangers guaring the approaches in those days. And it was March a good 40 years plus ago.
  23. My best fishing on the Southern waters has always been sat on the front of my boat in the marina! Cracking Roach, occasional Perch and lots of skimmers.
  24. You sure you were not on Southport Beach on the last one?
