  2. The real adventure doesn t start until easter! , although i am staying on the boat in the week at the moment, have been getting the boat ready for the coming season, have sorted a charging problem out(rewire) and have rebuilt starboard engine raw water pump, which had a rotted out lip seal, and badly scoured wear plate,so these have been renewed, also the engine hatch ram has had a new bracket fitted(the hatch is lead lined, so is rather heavy!) and new hybolic oil added.,have refitted the seating on the back so all good to go, jobs left to do include cut and polish hull and topsides ,fit new anodes(if possible) ,will need new air filters ,but can,t bring myself to pay £45 for each of them.... There you are a quick update , now where to go at easter??
  3. We had full sun in Lincoln only had iPhone but good shot if Venus??
  4. The air clearance can be estimated from the tide gauge at Gorleston, when the gorleston tide gauge reads zero, there is an estimated 13ft clearance under the bridges,so if you know the predicted tide gauge reading for a given day,you can work it out, take today, the estimated gauge reading(to chart datum) is 0.38 metres=1.246 feet, so clearance would be 13-1.246=approx 11ft 8 inches, here,s a link to the tide tables it,s based on http://www.norfolk-broads.org/index.htm just press the tides tab on left
  5. http://www.mainmarine.co.uk/strip.html These any good ?? comes drilled and countersunked, and discount for bulk lengths of 12feet worth a call
  6. Very nice, out of the piers and turn left is it??
  7. Hold everything, anybody fancy a dip in salhouse broad!!, a flybridge should have one of these! any chance Clive?? http://www.funair.com/ADJUSTABLE-YACHT-SLIDE-p/sys450.htm
  8. me thinks thy **** dreaming , how could you possibly have a holidy on the broads, that involves a 5 grand rib!!,
  9. Moonlight shadow can get as low as 6ft 6, , You will have no problems at slack water ,you should get 9 to 10 feet on those dates!! And you wont touch the bottom
  10. Goodchilds maintain SOB , she was moored on the outside two weeks ago, on the "working" pontoon, normally moors in the first berth in the mariner so they may well not need to lift her this year??
  11. HI, the estimated LOW water air clearance on that day is 10ft 3 ins, i think you may well be pushing your luck?, you only have 1 ft to play with , on paper seems tight, but in your favour it is the start of springs so might get a little more,a cautious approach needed!
  12. re tolls plaque, ours are old car number plates ,sprayed with two pack car paint, the up right stops them swinging ,ours are also tied with cable ties,
  13. Don't about spring........but they would look good on a plate!!
  14. the locks inn at geldeston..., what,s orcs,s airdraft?? ,and can i ask if your mooring has electricity ?,you,ll enjoy the south, no m25 ant and bure in high summer!
  15. I have both on the boat, the propex is a nice cheap unit , but is noisy, inside, but not outside!, the eberpacher has the advantage of you can site it in the engine bay (if you have diesel engine), the eber, really produces the heat quickly where as the propex takes a while ,for some reason, A friend has the duel fuel propex and to be blunt it s useless couldn,t get it to perform! Don,t buy fleebay second hand junk, save up and buy a new unit.......there are so many stories of nightmares !! especially if you can,t put them in yourself.. the eberspacher wins for me. IMHO of coarse
  16. Me too, it,s gone up £4.62!!
  17. I had a flat battery sunday morning, just started the other engine, for 5 mins which charged the flat one enough for a start!!(and yes i did leave the charger on the wrong setting when i fitted the new batteries in the morning before! doh
  18. HI, all, A busy weekend! we left for Norfolk sat 8am, to catch the high tide at 1 30pm, 2,5 hours in the car on the glorious 45mph norfolk motorway called the a 47!!. When we arrived at the boatyard there was already a very high tide , so it was unpack the car ,and get the tools ready, before we could go out we had to fit two new start batteries, the old one,s were had it, one showed 6 volts(after a shake up) and one zero volts!!, batteries fitted after lots of cursing!!(they are very heavy 110amps and have to be man handled at arms length to get them in, Next job a new alternator belt for the starboard engine , easy!!, not......take off fresh water hoses from pump, forget to hold up inlet, why is the sump pump running!! lol. after completing it was time to leave , a nice crisp sunny day and lunch was taken just before Burgh castle...Beef and mustard cheesy rolls yum yum.............. we motored up the river in mixed sunshine , was very pleasent for february, we ended up up down the chet ,they are still dredging it, and clearing overhanging trees(i quiet liked it with the trees!!). We had a very relaxed afternoon and evening, we had a few beers on the boat, and a scout was sent out to acquire vettles, in the from of the best hadcock and chips i ve had in a long time ,from the chip shop, Sunday morning we woke up to a very hard frost so it was on with the eberspaher, and the propex to thaw it out, plenty of mugs of tea!! On the way back the wind started to pick up a sign of things to come, an uneventful trip back , except for when we approaching Reeham ferry , there, swimming happily was a large Otter, he swam alongside the boat for 20 seconds, then off he went !. Next time i,ll try and remember the camara!!
  19. Don,t think you,ll have any problem, the hull can take twin engine,s so i small single diesel shouldn,t be a problem for it, the only problem you may have , is reversing,, the prop wash may hit the vee, causing lack of backward thrust, only way is to suck it and see , good luck, with the wetting
  20. Looks like the hosepipes burst there!
