  3. Ahh if that doesn't get you brownie points, nothing will.
  4. Just possible then, we can sort this by pm nearer the time. ?
  5. I am not too sad because we are having the pond dug out and remodelled next week so I would be repatriating any spawn in a bucket.
  6. No we are picking up Jenny from Martham on May 15th for a bit of sailing before the meet.
  7. It would indeed. We are up to visit Brilliant on Tuesday/ Wednesday and to collect stuff for stripping and varnishing.
  8. We had frog and toad spawn in our pond by March 2nd last year, none at all this year, I wonder why?

    My Day

Easter Saturday and its sodding raining! We could sit in all day, but that's not really what we planned to do. I thought we might go to the cinema, it's dry in there, so I checked what was on. Hmmm nope, nothing of compelling interest; ah just a minute...Live broadcast of Mozart's ' Cosi fan Tutti' (Everbody's doing it) from the Met, NY. Ok that was worth a try. Phill was less convinced, opera and 4 hours long (!) but, on the whole, we thought it was worth going. We were hoping for subtitles lol Oh boy, what a fantastic experience that was! It was funny and wonderfully performed, with a 1950's Coney Island theme that really worked, and included fire eaters and sword swallowers recruited from the real Coney Island. 4 hours flew by, and yes there were subtitles.
  10. I guess Philosophical, I am hoping that we bystanders can set a positive tone where things don't turn sour and the aggro is harder to generate. The bit about checking our own posts would be where I was headed. Bill, the NP thing has to be an agree to disagree thing, I think, we have done it to death without a resolution.
  11. Ok I hadn't seen this thread, but was thinking anyway about recent unpleasant posting exchanges and had thought about drawing on the research study I did on bullying some time ago. So here goes. 1 Bullying harms everyone, victims, bystanders, even the bullies. 2. Victims seldom if ever cry 'foul' themselves, they feel upset and ashamed of being bullied. 3. Interestingly bullies interviewed acknowledge that their bullying is 'a problem' 4. The bystanders have the power to stop the bullying, if they remain silent they suffer from guilt. Do I think this is what is going on here? No, on the whole I don't. There is another aspect that in my view just possibly has some relevance though, this is where things are said or done in a manner that the person knows is likely to set somebody off, and then they cry 'foul' when they get a reaction, and claim that they 'were only' saying or doing something reasonable. Call it passive aggression if you like, but really it's all about tone rather than content. Again, do I think that bullying is going on? Well, in just one area, maybe; the mods are coming in for some very unfair stick when they try to tone down the tone, if you see what I mean. It's time to think again, whether what we post would be something we would want said to us face to face. No? Then edit the post before the mods have to, it's only fair.

  13. Thanks so much for that Tim
  14. Further to above, the find is listed as Shanidar 1 found in 1951
  15. All the best Timbo. I spent part of this wee small hours watching a YouTube Archaeology about early hominids. YouTube being what it is I chose the least sensationalised one I could find and kept the salt handy. One example I had already heard of was a Neanderthal burial with flower pollen present, another I hadn't was of a from-birth disabled Neanderthal find in the Middle East dubbed Nandi where the individual apparently lived to about 40. The argument advanced for the latter was that this individual would have needed lifelong support from others in the group. Is this an area you have been involved in?
  16. Yes I had to look to find what that reference was, looking first at a lovely cover celebrating the Broads for what it is.
  17. Opening time tonight 8.30, free hot cross buns and Simnel Cake to patrons
  18. It's a smart little porthole giving into the space under the bunk. Yes bilge but not down by the keel therefore. It's clearly original, and the cat appreciated it as a nice bolt hole when we were sailing.
  19. Hi again. Just as a clarification; the work done on Brilliant at Cox's was a DIY project using their base, and not the yard's own work. There is another, older, Press Cruiser associated with NBF, the Flash, owned by Jenny Morgan's daughter. No doubt he will be along with details soon, but I think I am right in saying this is an 1890's boat.
  20. Brilliant has a built in wine cooler.
  21. Lucky dinosaur / er baby having you for a grandad. Congratulations
  22. Isn't that Martham's new shed Griff?
