  1. I hear you Robin, but for all that, Jay has to face up to these situations and outcomes daily, he is giving hard won advice as I am sure we all appreciate.

    My Day

I was planning to write a couple of reports. In fact I ended up badge making, see Spring Meet for details. There was shopping and looking for a replacement kitchen cupboard door... The one on our under sink cupboard hasn't lasted well, but Howdens have changed their range; no luck there, so back to the drawing board. The highlight of the day was going to the cinema in MK to see the RSC live link to Stratford. It was a wonderful production of Twelfth Night, really great! The set, music and costumes first rate, and Chris Luscombe, the director has a great touch for comedy. Ade Edmonson was excellent as was Kara Tointon; they were the 'names' in the show but the whole cast were spot on. I haven't seen a theatre live link to cinema before, but this was BBC standard production, so it gave you great experience of the performance, plus interviews with the director and with a backstage feature on costume in the world class RSC wardrobe department. Excellent!
  3. Very enjoyable thanks Tim
  4. Our first boat had the cooker right next to the cabin entrance and no forward hatch. I wouldn't turn it on unless everyone was in the cockpit! It really was a dreadful place for it to be.
  5. Limited edition badges for sewing to stuff. £7 donation to Forum funds. The limit is a) only if I can hand it over at the meet, and b) depending on my time to do them so I will ask for a pm and take them in order of request received, allowing me to work though the list as time permits. I can’t guarantee to get all done so this is a fair way of making the offer. Options on what you see are red border and/or red boat/forum name/real name as requested. If you are coming in May and want one, choose your options and pm me with them. Crew members can have their name with your boat name on a badge. I will pm you as I complete a badge so you know if it has been made.
  6. The SAR and two lifeboats were out for ages at Dungeness, and then Grendel, was it, mentioned Indy crew being busy watching out for mines, so was this a sighting being followed up?
  7. Sitting by the canal with my dad watching a working narrow boat with family aboard go by.
  8. Do tell Griff.... Yes the cat story reminds me of crossing from Dover on a Hovercraft, well bumpy!
  9. I'd definitely be more worried about claustrophobia than seasickness in a sub!
  10. IT would have to be a case of friends coming together, you can't organise it at the boatyard end.
  11. No. It's not being used in a bullying way, so no problem in my book.
  12. I get that Vaughan. I was just thinking of an inexperienced skipper and two very small people maybe. You can't watch small children and a boat with no experience. Teachers tend to work in pairs, or even three at once like the London buses. These days you can't undertake hazardous activities without backup.
  13. There is almost no one I would trust with my life, but Griff is one, I have seen how he operates.
  14. I get the idea that under a certain age of child would be a bad idea, but mid teens ought to be ok especially in a flotilla situation.
  15. Oh dear! Robin had a highly competent skipper on this project, with North Sea Patrol experience. It was carefully planned, and yes the sea threw a wobbly which pushed the limits, but they were going to get through because his skipper and members of crew were equal to the task. The boat had been prepped and tested competently too. I read enough of the thread elsewhere to make me think the averse judgement of the voyage has already been made.
  16. Welcome! Gracie also likes gentlemen in uniforms.
  17. I thought it was a good article, NWT gets my vote, and subscription.
