  1. I think its a Jabasco, I may have to put the enquiry on hold until I can get to the boat and check. Thanks
  2. Today we spent a few hours getting the boat ready after the winter. For the first time, the pump would only swill the little bit of water left in the loo (with anti freeze-smaller amount!) around. If the valve was turned one way, the water swilled around in the bowl, if the other way, it shot up into our faces! Eventually we primed the intake pipe and then the system worked. Its the "usual" system,, sea toilet-holding tank-manual. is this a sign that perhaps valves are wearing, or just one of those things? Thanks for any advice/experience.
  3. In case there is any question, I tried to put a smiley face on the above but I ended up losing the other content. I can do things with computers that very few experts can achieve-even to the point of them totally collapsing when I get within a few feet!
  4. I don't want to start an argument but I thought that colour is orange/ish. To me, the WD40 title is on a yellow background-please help because I have trouble with colours (Not red. amber green usually!)
  5. We forgot and still forget.................to leave anything at home!!
  6. As many of us woke up with a day off, or at least, a chance to do something different, it seems that the forum mods were kept busy by many of us today. So it's a "Thank you" from me and a "thank you" (I hope!) from all members for all those mods etc. that gave their time today and every day.
  7. I do not know the suggested area very well. but it does seem that members experienced in angling, boating and swimming with a good general knowledge of the area, as well as historical knowledge have not only seen the drawbacks of the proposed sites, but have been able to be positive in suggesting sites that appear to be more suitable. It is good to see that there is a positive aspect to various threads, as well as Peter's letter to BA. I think this is helpful towards getting certain points across as the organisers/authorities cannot say that this is just people who are against the idea.
  8. I saw that too but lost the article before I could put it here!
  9. I don't really have an opinion about this, apart from the fact that if I were an insurance company I would probably not want to take the risk(s).
  10. Thank you Paladine-just what I was trying to say.
  11. I don't see any problem with way 'national park' is mentioned as it within the correct context of funding via that source.
  12. Just read it again, I meant difference between sea and river water. It's early in the morning for me.
  13. Out of curiosity I looked at Robins link for these valves. Can anyone tell me the difference between the small in line lever type and the one that comes up on the link, which seems to have quite a large plastic body? Is it something to do with the difference between sea and salt water? Thanks.
  14. We have never hired, had our own boat since 1986. We visited my brother in law on a boat he hired, and one cabin (bedroom) I believe was next to the engine compartment and stank of diesel. I am afraid I couldn't have slept in it. If a window is going to leak, it's going to be one above a bed. I guess it's almost inevitable as many windows are built there, but has been our experience that only these ones leak!
  15. My better self says keep quiet and don't rise to the bait. However there is a part of me that feels I need to clarify a couple of matters: 1) I did not suggest a new thread because I disagreed with what was being said. I suggested it because of the way things were being said. I had made no comment on the subject of the thread as I had nothing to add. I felt that negative comments were aimed at Robin because it was a thread he started. In a new thread, positive and negative comments regarding surveys could be made with the emphasis on the surveys themselves, not the personality of the poster. 2) If you believe that I am a part of a pack that hunts like wolves, I am not sure how this works. As far as I know I have only met a couple of people on this forum, then only for two or three minutes, and I doubt they would even remember the encounters. 3) I don't like the tone that has developed in many of the latest posts, so I will "skip it" as you suggest. I will read the thread if it remains interesting to me, but I will not get into any more personal discussions so if you reply to this, I doubt you will get a reply.
  16. I am struggling to put my feelings into words, but this is supposed to be a friendly forum where I thought we accept one another for what we are, not a cheap Sunday newspaper.
  17. If members are interested in discussing the desirability or otherwise of having a survey done on a potential purchase then perhaps a seperate thread could be started. This thread seems to me to have become a discussion regarding Robins judgement, not, IMHO a subject for this forum.
  18. Robin, there's a great deal on this thread that I don't understand (technically known as most of it apart from the journey itself). I, along with everyone else just hope that things can be fixed easily and cheaply so you can get on with enjoying using the boat in whichever way you want to.
  19. Although I wouldn't want a "boring" icon, I am finding this thread quite interesting-so thank you Troutman62 for the suggestion.
  20. I tried the new washing bowl a couple of years ago...some women just don't know how to show gratitude.
  21. I passed 3rd time, paid 27/6d per lesson learnt in a Viva, but it wasn't available for my last test, so used a mini. Despite having my own car also, I was a very good boy and never moved it as much as a few feet without a qualified driver with me, can anyone else remember the feeling when you passed and were in the car alone for the very first time? My instructor had a string of mild expletives that he used when I performed certain manoeuvres which were "unusual", starting with "Cor......................." this was in 1968-and I still remember them!
  22. I am already feeling I shouldn't have asked...............
  23. I HAVE BEEN A MEMBER OF THIS FORUM FOR SOME TIME NOW, AND I DEMAND TO KNOW WHAT ON EARTH ANY OF THE ABOVE IS ABOUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  24. i just checked the beach cam out-just to ensure the sun still exists! 86 degrees there at the moment, but it does look a little breezy!
