Hi Alan. We are going to quite a large caravan site near Swanage. Its actually Dorset not Devon as I originally thought but hey ho it will get us away for a week and best thing is it got a pub and restaurant on site. Its next to a halt for the Swanage steam railway and whilst not a 'steam nut' find these railways quite interesting. Its not boating on the 'Broads' but maybe the next best thing. At least I wont have to worry about Eve falling in when mooring up - just falling over on the way back from the pub! Regards Alan

Glad I got my copy when I did -arrived next day. I thought it would be a good read when we go to Devon for a week in our motorhome. Unfortunately had a quick look and now halfway through it! Find it difficult to put down, you really feel you are there with him. Maybe glad I didn't win the lottery and buy a yard now but with enough money suppose you could employ the right people and just play! Alan
  3. As we are down sizing I have quite a few copies of Anglia Afloat going back over a number of years that swmbo thinks I should dispose of. This coupled to the fact that we have just sold our boat on the 'Broads' and she thinks if I keep looking back at them will be tempted to buy another 'hole in the water'! I find them very interesting to look back over the years and see how things have changed. Anyway.............I don't want to take them to be re-cycled and if anyone wants them they are yours for free-or maybe a small contribution to Forum funds? Obviously posting is out of the question so collection will be necessary. pm me if you are interested. Regards Alan

Hi Jonzo. On 2nd June 2011 there was a discussion about this on the NBN Forum!!
  7. Bunch of 't.....s' comes to mind. I felt sorry for the dog. Idiots!
  8. Been there, done that. A bit like Marmite?! ............................... but I don't dislike Marmite!
  9. I hav'nt given up on the Broads but having been both a hirer and owner for some 40 years I thought I would step back and give others a chance! I still have a Birchwood 25 which I have refurbished over the past year, its nearly ready so might move that up to Norfolk but the fact still remains that we won't have enough time to use it properly.............................looks like I might give Jon a ring?! In that event hiring is not out of the question.
  10. Due to lack of use we decided to sell our boat. Tried one well known broker who was totally useless and seemed to me to have 'lost the plot'! We spoke to Jon and his words were "get it up hear and we will sell it' True to his word, with absolutely no hassle and brilliant results, he sold it! I recommend Jon and his team 100%+
  11. One of the BEST! So sorry to hear your sad news. All the best for the future. GOOD LUCK! regards Alan
  12. NeilB-Does the crumpet come with it?! Regards Alan
  13. paulandlorna. Well, its OK for some! Have a great time and don't forget the shore power?! Let me know if My Panache looks OK. Thanks. Regards Alan
  14. Adnams Girl. Very nice to watch this. Took me back a few years! The only things that seem not to have changed are the ducks and swans! Regards Alan
  15. I had a decent black jumper that went like that - so annoying! Regards Alan
  16. A few years ago the wife and I stopped at Rockland Broad overnight. It was when the pub had closed and we were the only ones there. She is quite sensible and level headed but was certain we were being watched and/or the place was haunted! I must admit I didn't sense anything, had a few drinks and went to bed! I think she stayed awake all night hiding under the duvet and wanted to leave at first light. She now refers to the place as "spookyville" and will not go near there again. I have to say when we have a boys only few days its one of the places we head for and have not had the same experience-maybe due to the other type of spirits drunk! Regards Alan
  17. Very, very sad. But maybe a timely reminder that life jackets are for dogs also? Regards Alan
  18. JennyMorgan. I take your point but thats OK if you are able to inflate the thing! Not so if you've had a knock on the head or similar. I'll trust what the RNLI said I think! Regards Alan
  19. At the start of last season I purchased two new life jackets to replace our old ones. I must admit, at the time, I felt quite proud of myself. That was however until we attended the Autumn Forum meet at The Waveney River Centre. In attendance were the RNLI lifeboat crew and one of the things they were doing were checking members life jackets. Rather tongue in cheek I presented our two new jackets, the conversation went something like this-"Yes, very nice, well made and good condition. However, they are manual (pull cord) inflation and don't have a crutch strap, I advise replacing them asap"! I did feel a bit of a plonker! I have today ordered two new 190N's from the website mentioned by the original poster. Thanks for the information, very welcome as usual. Regards Alan
  20. Gracie. So what did you have to do to get a mooring outside the Swan?!..... In my many years of Broads cruising its always been full every time i've passed. Regards Alan.
  21. So the boat had already been at the 24 hour mooring for 4 days? Makes me start to wonder?!............... Regards Alan
  22. Blimey BroadScot, is it really only 14 days? When do you think I should start shopping? Only joking, that Internet really is a wonderful thing! Regards Alan.
  23. I hope you didn't tell them it was for a boat. If you had they would have had to multiply the price by 3! Well that is the norm, isn't it? Regards Alan.
  24. BroadScot. The roof will probably be a good place to start! Regards Alan.
  25. Hi members out there. I know some of you out there are looking to buy a boat and thought the following might be of interest. Its item number 281515462161 on e bay. Its a Seamaster 813 and appears to be very good value for the asking price. Would have a go myself but HAH seems to think two boats are enough!! I must add that I have no connection with the owner or seller of this boat and have NOT viewed her but can tell you she is shaft drive which IMHO is a bonus. Regards Alan
