  1. We came across this poor family broken down in mid river just off Oulton Broad. Luckily Barnes did not want it towed to the Yacht Station but down to the Dutch Tea Garden moorings because we really struggled with the wind to keep it in a straight line. What is it with the southern rivers Barnes Brinkcraft and us.
  2. Not the only boat that needed rescuing today.
  3. I'm sure there are enough of us to tow Malanka to Beccles and then back to the wet shed, just imagine that going through Yarmouth. Hope you get her fixed soon Martin.
  4. Was very quite the other side of the bridge, pootled up to Coltishall this morning and only around 4 boats but getting busier now. The sun has also come out to play. Doug.
  5. I think Brinks Lullaby sleep 8 or 9 people so with only 5 onboard it should be more than fine for a week, when the tank is full you can continue to use it but your neighbors might not be amused.
  6. Seriously they make you laugh, they make me cringe lol.
  7. Vice is what you get down Rosary Road and cramp is for doing it in the car. Well someone had to say it.
  8. I made something similar to this at school and it's not for the faint hearted. Have you thought of the IBTC as they run cabinet maker courses and might do one as a project for cost. Doug.
  9. It's ok accepting help and we all need it at sometime but I wish they would not grab the rope and heave like mad forcing the boat to crash into the key heading, if you offer to take someone's ropes just hold them until instructed other wise. i can imagine sitting on the wall at Reedham can give you hours of entertainment please can we have some more tail from the river bank.
  10. I once went all the way from Wayford to Beccles and back with a 5hp 2 stroke outboard on 10 ltrs of petrol
  11. I understand It was actually his boss standing in while he had a break but I might be wrong. I have been in the Marylebone box and it's fascinating to watch. I once pushed the help button at Worsted and spoke to someone in India
  12. I topped up at Boulter's cruised back to Stalham then up to Coltishall next Potter Heigham back to Stalham, Then a few weeks later back to Boulter's to top up again princely sum of £19, that's the beauty of a BMC over a modern Nanni. If you really want to save a few quid take a Gerry can to Nicholson's in Sutton and buy red diesel there.
  13. It's actually very difficult to either cut services or make them slower due to govement red tape, you can of course add more very easily. In Bicester where I use to live the main A41 London road has a crossing with a station next to it like OB, the track use to be single line to Oxford with the station the correct side of the road hence minimal disruption. 3 years ago the Train operator applied to change the line to duel and link it with the Birmingham to London line. This requires crossing the road and with 3 trains an hour in each direction together with the requirement to close the crossing while the train is in the platform results in the crossing being closed more than its open, it has caused chaos but nothing will change due to the above. The rail system needs a major overhaul but if you look at the state of HS2 it won't be in my lifetime.
  14. Welcome aboard, Not sure many yards would fuel a hire boat without the yards permission, HW might express that the boat is not fuelled elsewhere as they cannot grantee the quality. if you cruise slightly slower you will see more as well as save fuel, win win.
  15. The "Tractor" loco's {class 37} are on hire from DRS while the class 170 and 156 under goes refurbishment, they cannot use them on the Wherry Line as it has short platforms. i actually quite like the sound when it's under power but not standing next to it while it starts up. The class 68's were due to go back after the 170 that hit the tractor near Thetford came back but have been kept on due to a shortage of units.
  16. Sky is only good outdoors in Hickling so expect it to be average
  17. You better hurry up the new bi mode trains start arriving next August.
  18. Do you mean from Oulton Broad ? I'm not sure it runs every hour throughout the day, This service is normally done by the class 68's which does a round trip boosted by a 156 in the peak. I'm not sure we have 6 trains available at the moment.
  19. We have a couple together with a folding table great when the barbie comes out.
  20. Definitely nothing to do with me, I bag first dibs on getting Tim to do my garage.
  21. That's far too tidy you will never find anything.
  22. Am I taking on another apprentice Doug.
  23. End of August produced 16 boats available with Cover Girl costing £2774 for 7 days. OMG. Doug.
