  1. I was brought up in a little town in Scotland that had a harbour full of little fishing boats. That is where I spent most of my time and I loved it. When I was 19, myself and 3 friends got enough money together to go to the broads on a boat from Southgates main yard in Horning (Glistening Stream 4) and I have never looked back since. Now, I have 2 teenage daughters - 18 and 15 - who love the broads and can't get enough of going on a boating holiday. Total relaxation, radio blaring, good food and plenty of fresh air.
  2. SLAGGING of members on this forum is strictly NOT ALLOWED. Differences of opinion are common and expected. I think Alan, that some people only read the last post and not the whole thread, so they don't know the whole story. I am sure there was nothing personal against you.
  3. MM - it's a bit early to be mentioning the ''C'' word for this year.
  4. It's monsoon stuff out here at the moment. When it comes down - it's like a fire hose.
  5. Spring is on the way!!!!! ----- There should be another couple of months of winter left yet.
  6. We all used ice hockey skates. Curved up at the front - but no teeth for brakes. If you wanted to stop, you went side-ways or dug in the back of the blade.
  7. Thanks for that John. It's just that according to my ISP, we have used 50gb in a week.
  8. Serious question here guys. Will connecting to the forum from here in Bali use substatially more data than if I was in the UK, or not so far away from the UK?
  9. I remember when I was a kid (50-55 years ago) up in the east of Scotland, our local park had a large boating lake, with an island in the middle. The lake would freeze and be covered in snow for months. We would get a broom and clear a slalom course around the lake and go ice skating as fast as we could.
  10. Thanks Tim. I thought that was really good.
  11. After 13 years in Saudi - I could take days to tell you stories that you would find unbelievable. 2 young Saudis get a Cadilac and go out on the highway. They put it in cruise control and climbed in the back seat - intensive care was next on the list.
  12. My mum died in May - in hospital - in a bed, But no doctor available to prescribe the right medicine or machinery to help her. She suffered a horrible death. My sister had meetings afterwards with the hospital management and got all the apologies in the world, but that didn't help at the time.
  13. Here is a true story - for I was there. An American business man split from his Indonesian wife and part of the deal was for her to sell his Volvo and give the money to his secretary ( who he was intimate with ). The wife kept her side of the deal and sold the Volvo for USD 7 - yes - seven dollars.
  14. I agree with you David. This thread should go to sleep now. If it does not - I might give it a pill. Enough said.
  15. Welcome to the forum. You are a brave couple and I wish you all the best.
  16. I have kept out of this, but in the absence of Iain, feel it is time to say something. This is a friendly - open - forum and is well known for being such. People have their stories of woe and people give their opinions on what and why. Everybody is entitled to say something - but let us please keep it friendly and not get into ''slanging matches''.
  17. Took it out John, so less for peeps to talk about.
  18. So there is something sticking up that has to be put down before you can get in the wet shed. The mind boggles.
  19. Hi peeps, Our cats have just arrived. It's been along time since the end of October, but the girls are happy.
