  1. If in doubt phone Barnes,But I agree with my friends please don't use a camping stove on the boat. Many people do use a BBQ,once moored,Certainly not however on the boat Also from me enjoy the hols, and look forward to hearing your tales on the forum Ian
  2. We are lucky having our own boat getting up to the broads at least once a month .Yet we still get a buzz and when we are home we plan the next trip . There's no cure ,only getting on the water when you can . Enjoy your trip Bob Best wishes Ian
  3. I agree it is I feel possible if someone has the belief to make it work, but it can't just be a pub.I hope to see it up and running one day
  4. Not Iain when I try to post about the spring meet on the DLR,thats why I kept taping june instead of may.thats my story anyway. Ian
  5. Don't worry Iain we have them in London there called the DLR.One good thing they don't go on strike! Or ask for more money
  6. If people are interested in the boat I have invited them onto the boat,I Think there is a number of people who are polite and it is fair enough to show them around. However if people come on board with out asking,I would tell them in no uncertain terms where to go,as Peter said boats do attract interest,in the same way as some cars. Its just that people need to respect others
  7. You could say it's our local,I just wish they change the menu now and again . However it's often packed mainly because there are lots of moorings in Brundall
  8. Hello and welcome Rick.Great pub for food and beer . Sadly as we are moored at Brundall we can only get to you in September when we are on the boat for two weeks Ian
  9. I know I go on about the New Inn but I agree It just seems too get better. We have been going to the pub for about 10 12 years. The food has improved to the point where they are not far off Michelin star standard. The waters edge is good so to is the White horse at loddon and it's name sake at Neatishead overall food in pubs has got alot better over the years. I remember when food first came to pubs,it was salted crisps (which came with a little blue bag of salt). Then along came cheese and onion. Then progressed to dry cheese and tomato or ham and mustard rolls. What ever happens Gus will get boats moored. Ian
  10. What a lovely day nice and warm, the weather man said should get to 22/24c today and getting warmer . Last Friday we had sun could rain hail.In other words every thing.Very good the next few days on the water.Heres a photo of our cherry tree.We got it from Woollies about 18 years ago,and it kept growing. Each year I have a fight with the birds for the fruit. One year we had about 13 kgs.looking good hope for a good crop
  11. As Alan said good to hear crime seems to be low on the Broads.Looked at Boat shield before, but does olit cover Brundall Stuart? Also interested in the DNA kit. Ian
  12. When the Tapas bar went up for sale it was advertised in the EDP as The bar Restaurant, car park, grounds and moorings. It did pass my mind to take it on.It is clear there is some Confusion on owner ship of the moorings, but I am sure that the moorings would be split between the what was the pub and the shop. Ian
  13. Well it is a fact that moorings are in short supply in horning, the ferry charge TEN POUND a night not sure if that is refunded if you buy a meal. The Swan has few moorings. The New Inn don't charge but ask that you have food there, which I think is reasonable. The pub changed hands last year and is much improved.
  14. For me the Yankee diner was not for me and I thought better suited in Norwich. We tried the Tapas not long before they left waited a long time for food to arrive even though there was only about 6/8 people there, and the food was poor.As far as I understand the moorings are split between the cafe, shop and the Temple.I don't mind paying for the night.
  15. We have two cats one is 16 years old the other 8.Most of the time there fine, the younger will pick on the older cat some times.A few years back a stay would come in the cat flap for food, they we sure about that. Its not easy, but they will find there own level.
  16. My Tribute to the great man: Its much a do about nothing, and it may be a comedy of errors . Friends Romans and country men, lend me your ears, Whether its noble in the heart to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, that is the question. To be or not to be that is the question I am sorry Wills,at least i have something in common with the great man Ian Hathaway
  17. from me also, where are you hoping to be based on the Broads .I must say Brundall is very nice.Where ever you are many happy boating days Ian
  18. I do also wish you your family and the best all the best ian
  19. I do hope you Andy and others carry on I understand it's hard.Okay we have our own boat.We like many started out hiring boats then got the bag.Lets hope the future is good for all concerned
  20. Spotted one a few years back at Acle,Yes Barton broad. When we had our Setland they used to eat fish off the swim deck.At the end of the day it is often luck if you see one. Happy boating and spotting
  21. We watched last night. What I thought was funny the 30 mil boat (which we saw at the boat show).was top class, but the water fall what happened there so tackey .
  22. Welcome Miles we to always had good evenings at the pub as I said many times. When we went last summer again I said the staff about seven were more interested in there phones and one another.I still think you can make the pub a success agree also have a shop.A ferry to bring people in perhaps some camping. You need to give it some thought. Many other pubs along the water do well.I still hope someone takes it on as a pub,if so I wish them well.ian
