  1. Just remember it gets a bit darker sooner this time of year.
  2. Welcome think it will depend when you pick up the boat. What experience you've had of boating.Just take your time.Theres lots to see.Just work out what and where you want to go.Most importantly have fun. Ian
  3. Think we agree at last. This thread is just going round in circles. Don't think we need to read anymore .Let's more on.I agree Andy hard to remain polite.
  4. Okay so perhaps I could do some tutorials on the boat.I'm not cheap though
  5. If your meat, pasta and plate are all hot, should maintain the heat.
  6. Providing your sauce is not to wet, adding pasta water will not make it wet.Pasta water will contain starch. Finnish with a little drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and parmesan.
  7. That's a shame Alan.I like rice and or pasta once a week sometimes more.
  8. The best thing is mix together, making sure you add some of the pasta water. In Italy the meat and pasta is always mixed together. Providing the pasta is hot and the meat also.Your dish should remain hot.Dont over cook the pasta, always best when the pasta has a bit of bite.
  9. Try roasting the fish,it makes the pie dryer and not wet.I use fresh and smoked salmon, fresh cod or haddock.Taking care not to over cook it.White sauce one oz butter one oz flour mix together with a spoon. Then add about one pint warm milk using a whisk, add a good spoon of mustard.Add some good strong cheddar.Allow to cool a little add fish place in a pie dish.Top with mash and cook in a hot oven until piping hot and brown.Yes you can add prawns if you wish I tend to just have three or four fish.
  10. Due to us completely doing the house up.We will reduce the amount of decorations we put up.
  11. Please stay.I fully agree with you the idea of a paid skipper is just not workable. For a start the cost would put nearly everyone off boating.Agree there needs to better advice.Who would be prepared to have a stranger on board, skilled or not. Theres implications on insurance etc.Yes Yarmouth, Reedham for example are challenging to say the least. My guess many thousands pass through each season, whatout a problem .Theres no need for this very silly idea.
  12. On a good day,its about 8.6.Think yesterday it was below eight feet.At present very high tides.
  13. We often get very high/low water at Brundall. On holiday the start of the month the tide didn't drop for about three days.
  14. Not sure if everyone has understood. Not sure even If I will be here next year I certainly hope sure, but who knows .Turn back the clock one year.I felt fine boat health issues ,felt good, how life chances.
  15. So let's say your party is six, then you have to pay for a skipper and silly money. Then you must decide to leave one person at home,oh and it will cost you a few extra hundred pounds. Don't think so ,instead I will go elsewhere.Would that help a business that is struggling to make ends meet. Sorry if my opinion is some of"the rubbish on this forum " I have been on the broads since the sixties when I was a child .Do I have all the answers no,but I care deeply about the broads, if my health allows I hope to live out my days in Norfolk or Suffolk. Would I employ a skipper going through Yarmouth at a large cost NO .All of which who or what would decide that another person would be allowed in your party? What would be implications regarding insurance? This whole idea is just pie in the sky. Am I bored with you suggestions yes, they are clearly unworkable. Am I bored with the broads, hell no I love the broads.Sorry if what I say is rubbish, perhaps you know best.
  16. I get that twenty, thirty and maybe forty year olds want a good time.I don't blame them for that. However if we are to beat this we must ALL make sacrifices .I can't say for sure, but when I was working my health was better Since lockdown it's gone downhill.
  17. In the words of a very famous man " I have a dream". Sadly not sure it will come true, but let's hope. That is,that we get over this dreadful disease and start to be free again. No more test and trace. No more masks constant hand sanitizing/ hand washing. Fall employment .A visit to a football match.Meeting up with long list friends, that may be more then six.No that's to much to ask for. The last normal holiday this year was New years day.Since then all bank Holidays or breaks have had many restrictions placed upon them.If we ALL stick to the rules, we can perhaps beat this, but if we ignore rules placed upon us,sadly normal will be this living hell for years to come.I want normal,I am one of perhaps thousands, more so then those affected by Covad that have perhaps a life threatening illness and I want CHRISTMAS, Easter a a life clear of illness,or is that to much to ask for.
  18. Thanks for the advice, will I take it let me think. No
  19. Perhaps it's time this post came to an end.As I've said we seem to be going round in circles and some are clearly falling out and most points have now be covered. I for one won't comment anymore more on this post
  20. I agree with Peter, very sorry that your time on the broads was spoilt. As he said this season due to Covad has been compacted, which may explain why so many accidents etc.Trust me it's not always like this.
  21. Its something that I think about often. It was a stupid mistake. My thinking at the time was that the boat on the other side,I thought was closer then it was.I raised my head to get a better view, that's when I connected with the bridge. When we went back I did so from inside the boat. Not easy very poor visibility. That said much safer. So to answer your question .No extra training wouldn't help.A mistake I won't make again.
  22. Today I had a breathing test at the hospital, which normally done by the nurse at our surgery (Five minute) walk from home.Which at present there not doing. Then we picked up our daughters wedding photos, which we had framed. Then this afternoon I was told my scan due next Monday cancelled because the machine not working properly. So will be rearranged, all I need.
  23. Think we are going round in circles. What has happened in recent months is dreadful. Each year there are accidents on the broads. This year worse then perhaps previous years. Sorry, if we go down the route as some are suggesting I think many will avoid Yarmouth and breydon like the plague.Yes better instruction and advice.Lets not turn parts of the broads into a no go area.In the end all the training in the world will not make boating or any other activitie 100% safe.Yes reduce the risks, but any activity carries risk.
