  4. Some years back I repaired a petrol tank by obtaining a couple of litres of fibreglass resin with hardener and after thoughrly cleaning the tank by taking of all covers vents etc and leaving for a day or two to allow any vapours to go I then mixed the resin with the hardener poured it into the tank and turned the tank round and round until every where inside was well covered then laid it to one side for a week or two and also bitumen the outside when re fitted it worked perfect for the three years that I owned the car up to selling hope it helps. Clive.
  5. We had the solar wind up ones they did not seem to last 2 minutes before they were useless so went to the little LED ones from Latham's where a set of batteries last at least 2 years and give excellent lighting over winter we remove the batteries in case of decay and dry store them for the following season.
  6. The first time we went we were woken at 4 AM buy a guy trying to sell us drugs by hammering on the roof so we up and left around 5 in the morning to cruise down river and get back in to bed at commissioners cut, the second time we were prepared for them but instead they tried casting us adrift but I had taken the precaution of fitting a longish chain and lock fastened (still carried on board) through the ring and locked to my centrally mounted pop up cleat with enough slack to allow for rise and fall of tide but these days we go there in the morning do our shopping etc and leave by tea time.
  7. Geoff I used to do what you suggest but I now use my apple ipad and I have put the app on what Mojo suggests and also scanned all other things river distances bridges doctors hospitals pubs restraunts etc and the full engine manual to my 1.5 BMC for just in case of problems I just have to change the tide tables each year. Clive
  8. We use 16 mm by 25 ft. braided rope on our Hampton and we are very happy with them we have 2 at the bow and the same at the stern and we carry 2 30 ft. on board in case of extreme windy weather to put on as springs in an emergency the size was recommended by a well known ex navy man. Clive.
  9. I am fortunate in the fact we have an astronomy group who rent a room in our WMC and they produce a book each year with old and new information in it and give them out to whoever asks so as you can see I have two on board our boat and on clear warm evenings in the summer months I often lay on me back on our boats roof and watch the stars even though I am not a full time watcher I still enjoy searching the sky's the astronomy group have such a long name we just call them the moon men for the easiest.

    Snowing

Our youngest daughter asked me to turn out at 6-45 am and help get her off our road as we live on a hill as she had to get to work at Mac Dees on the high street at Sheffield as she is in charge to day so she had to be there so I jumped in the Mondao and towed her up the hill and onto the main road which were reasonably clear at which she set off and I can only presume she got there as I have herd nothing from then she like me and Kathy love our boat and cant wait to get back she likes it best as her phone has no signal down there making it so work can not contact her. Clive.
