  1. quick answer - no facebook is entirely separate from the forum, if you want to view the forum, you need to log on, for the members area you need to have made a certain number of posts before you qualify, and then I have to remember to check post numbers occasionally to change membership status so you can view the members area.
  2. Work on the cockpit progresses, the areas that contain the cocktail cabinet and helm position are required to be done before the floor, so a wide sheet of teak was selected and narrower pieces for the sides, of course the shapes were awkward
  3. perhaps they should bulldoze scaffel pike level to make it accessible.
  4. to be fair those signs are probably less than 0.3 square meters
  5. could you convert it to twin hydraulic drives powered by a single engne?
  6. since they are only allowed to use it for marketing, it is therefore by definition advertising
  7. I believe that you can get trams that have big flywheels they get their power from, when at stops they connect up to the electric and spin the flywheels up to speed, this then keeps them going to the next stop.
  8. I have considered a resin printer for smaller detail stuff, so maybe when this years bonus comes through. the xyz printer was (when i bought it) one of the few really plug and play printers, all the settings controlled by the chip in the cartridge, (the newer pro ones can also work with other filament) but that was a limitation i accepted having seen others trials just getting the settings right to get the first print, mine was up and running as soon as i got it. since my skills are in cad, the design was for me the easy bit. i accepted these limitations when i chose it, and still have no regrets, so obviously for me that was the way to go. I am careful with the abs, its used well ventilated and the cabinet is a closed cabinet, i might get round to adding a vent directly outdoors from the cabinet sometime.
  9. i found a new channel to subscribe to with lots of interesting stuff and over 1000 videos, so its the new background tv at the moment.
  10. its been relatively quiet for me, my daughter was away at her boyfriends for christmas and boxing day, this gave me time to tidy some meccano and put up some metal shelving to hold it, then boxing day was a morning of tidying, followed by family afternoon at my sisters, where the whole family, my parents and sister and her kids and grandkids all get together for a buffet and presents, then i found that my daughter had replaced her gaming tv with a bigger one, this freed up her old 42" tv to replace the nearly new 32" tv in the lounge, which freed this up to replace the partly dodgy 24" tv in my bedroom, another hour well spent sorting all these out today will be another quiet day, only 2 taxi runs scheduled to drop my daughter over to her mums and pick her up again, so more tidying for me. (as well as binge watching youtube videos)
  11. I have a da vinci printer the 1.0 Ai0, this has quick change hot ends, the main reason for changing out the hot end is that each filament type has a different melting temperature, i normally use abs, which has the hottest nozzle temperature, abs is fine as it will clear ant cooler melting filament from the nozzle, the other filaments with the lower temperature however cant clear abs out of the nozzle as it doesnt melt at the temperatures they work at, so unless you want to rigorous cleaning routine such as soaking the nozzle in acetone, which would mean removing the nozzle from the quick change hot end and soaking it, then ensuring it is reassembled at the correct height, then the better option is a nozzle dedicated to each filament type, it only takes about 30 seconds to swap out the nozzles.
  12. its of great interest, i love these little details
  13. Christmas cooking has started, the ham was cooked yesterday afternoon, and this morning the slow cooked braised beef went on, followed by cheese and bacon turnovers for breakfast, next it will be over to my parents to say happy Christmas, then home, tomorrow it's round my sister's for boxing day.
  14. Happy Christmas one and all

  17. Tatty is the other mouse from the one Titty was named after https://www.sacred-texts.com/neu/eng/eft/eft17.htm
  18. today was the day we have our christmas raffle, to avoid the bribery and corruption rules of the company, individuals are not allowed gifts from our sub contractors and suppliers, so every year the haul is gathered together and raffled off for charity, this year two of our service providers guaranteed to match the value of the tickets sold, so this year we have raised £375, on the raffle so £1125 will be split between the two current charities our office collects to- the British heart foundation, and RCK that feeds over 2000 homeless people every day in london. see below for the collection of prizes - this was just our local office, each office does the same., for my tickets I came away with a huge hotel chocolat advent calender, a bottle of bacardi rum, a bottle of port, a tin of sweets and a bottle of red wine.
  19. thats what comes out when he forgets to turn spell check on Helen
  20. Ok here it is, the print is a bit patchy where it finished off, but I can probably improve that, but it is squishable.
  21. when I am getting a free breakfast with a hotel booking I too work on the principle that a good breakfast to set you up for the day ahead means that if necessary you can skip lunch and go straight through until evening meal time. It usually takes me a good hour to work through the full english, full continental, and cereal, followed up by a coffee or two with a round or two of toast and jam or marmalade
  22. well I just had to try, this meant refitting the flex hot end, and filament and a reasonably quick 20 minute test print with a 10% infill, this gives a suitably squishy fender, with probably the same give to finger pressure as a real fender has between the quay and the boat, so I have even more thinking to do now.
  23. my condolences , we too have always had at least one black cat - currently we have 4 black cats, we managed to lose three of our others in just a few months a couple of years back, mind you at age 18 for two of them and 24 for the third it was hardly unsuspected, our current 4 are all youngsters ( well if you can call 12 years old young).
