  2. is there a norfolk / suffolk lost dogs webpage anywhere
  3. I see Water Rail is Keeping up with her quota of rescues.
  4. surely the issue with gas heating is the fact that it is gas, with associated hazards, maintaining ventilation etc, getting gas installations approved for use and through the BSS, must also be considered I suppose.
  5. just editing the picture that clearly showed the boat name. (yes I know the pictures are out there elsewhere on the internet, but for the sake of consistency)
  6. That would be entirely dependent upon the chemistry of the lithium batteries used, LIFEPO (lithium Iron Phosphate) marine batteries are very unlikely to spontaneously combust (any more than Lead Acid batteri, these are rated as High safety compared to other lithium battery chemistries., the type of lithium batteries that are known to catch fire are the Lithium Cobalt Oxide type, as used in phones and laptops. they have a higher specific energy but fall a lot lower on safety and lifespan. other types that are known to combust are the type used for electric vehicles - Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide. Leo installed LIFEPO batteries in Tally ho, for the very reason that they are a safer chemistry, and unlikely to catch fire. So, It will depend on the battery chemistry as to whether they are liable t catch fire, and the ones for marine applications are generally the safer type.
  7. ah, good, no need to keep speculating any more then.
  8. well I have just sat and watched 8 hours of TV, the most tv i have watched in over 2 years, and i found the whole thing profoundly moving. I found the entire pageantry of the event first class, done as only the british military and church can do things, on perfect time, and with all the due pomp and glory.
  9. most unusually for me, today I have the TV on, to watch the Queens funeral, I think it must be about 2 years since I last watched TV, so much so that the freesat box had to do an update and then be retuned to get things working.
  10. the hire yards generally have the advantage that they have spare engines, and all other parts sitting on the shelf available as well as spare cushions etc, and teams of people who can easily refit a boat in short order, if you think, over the winter boats come in and are spruced up or a complete refit done, probably in less than a week, and then they go on to the next in line.
  11. well look at it this way, in all probability if the original post was in fact acted upon, this boat has already been removed and recovered, so its a bit of a moot point now.
  12. but that is what the boatyards do best, returning a boat back into service, so you would never know anything had happened, (and another good reason not to name a boat and deter any potential hirers)
  13. if you want some idea of the constraints we have to work under then I suggest reading the full online harms bill, and see where that places the line with respect to social media, there are some platforms that really are going to have to clean up their act. thats why i said go look at the guidelines, I am notoriously bad at wording my responses, we allow questioning and debate, until it gets to the point where people are being attacked by others, or start trying to score points off one another, then its no longer debate.
  14. when a moderator or site owner has asked for something not to be discussed then posts that contravene TOS will be removed. we have to protect the forum from possible comebacks and action being taken against it (something that would shut the forum down faster than you would imagine) its as open as we can legally allow, opinions are allowed as long as they remain within the terms and conditions and refrain from attacking others opinions. I am probably not wording this correctly and allowing ambiguity to creep in, so best go here -https://forum.norfolkbroadsnetwork.com/guidelines/ and read what you agreed to.
  15. your understanding is quite correct, however you can say a boat from XXX yard, as long as any pictures dont show the boat name or registration, and they are not named in the post. on another note i do know you can get an 1100 gallon per hour bilge pump - though here (https://www.boatus.com/expert-advice/expert-advice-archive/2014/december/bilge-pump-capacity-do-the-math) they recommend a 4000 gallon per hour capacity for a 45 foot boat
  16. for the current price, its worth it for the fittings and engine spares alone, take a hiab lorry , load it up and take home, remove all the fittings and fixings as spares, perfect for someone who already owns a Martham boat. there may be useable timber still there. restoration- well in the way Tally ho is being restored, yes its possible, but I see this as a purchase, much as the lads from Acorn to Arabella did with their purchase of Victoria, they got a whole boats worth of fittings for their boat that way, probably saved them a fortune, and the decent wood is going to be made into their tender.
  17. that will be a decision that the boatyards will have to make, they are generally open all other bank holidays.
  18. Potter currently showing 6' 1/4" on project troll at around low tide, all this rain wont be helping, you have time for it to improve. How is the old girl going?
  19. its always the way, the one time you arent really thinking what you are doing, will be the one perfect mooring.
  20. I have experienced that, we went on holiday to france, a we live so close to dover port, it was actually cheaper to travel every day on the ferry and sleep at home, than getting a hotel room, so after 3 days of rough channel crossings, it took a further day to regain our land legs.
  21. glad to hear Dave has performed this miracle.
  22. its where i moor when i head for Lodden, the path to hardly cross is closed, but the path the other direction takes you to the village (you can use a permissive path that cuts across the back of the boatyards.
