  1. if its vertigo it can be helped by certain of the seasickness pills (not the homeopathic ones) stugeron (i recall) is one that helps, it contains the same ingredients as the tablets the dr prescribes (or at least the same as the ones I was prescribed) for labyrinthitis, but in smaller quantity
  2. although I have never actually met the Queen, i can at least say that I was presented to the King (while he was still Prince Charles) and shaken his hand, an event only slightly marred by being immediately after shaken by the hand (almost literally) by the mayor of London (Boris), it nearly rattled my teeth loose, fortunately I had an equivalence in bulk and managed to retain my composure.
  3. I seem to recall the King saying that her remains would be flown down as part of his speech. anyway, not being one to normally wax lyrical, a short tribute came to me so I used the online book of condolences to pen it down.
  4. as i watched it i found myself considering that he must have known how many steps it would take, and adjusted his start position accordingly, all in all considering they probably had less than 24 hours notice to organise and set up the whole service, i think they did a fantastic job, i observed the red coated ladies and gents that were quietly guiding people to be in their correct place for their part in the service, fantastic organisation. granted they must have plans set up for these things, but this will be the first time the plan has been dusted off in 70 years.
  5. the Queen is dead, long live the Queen
  6. one of these days i will get a boat and name it Private, think of all the moorings that will be available
  7. well you could try selling it as an antique, the green hue would make it a particularly rare item. a patina acquired in the steamy backwater tributaries of the chinese deltas.
  8. ok so i got a call at 4.30, car is ready, now its a good 1 1/4 hours on foot and about 40 minutes by electric scooter, so, i set off fingers crossed that 2 and a bit bars would get me there, its fairly flat, the footpath runs alongside the river, so i got halfway along the gravel section before the batterys gave a red warning only about half a mile short, pushed the rest of the gravel section, then up and over the railway bridge, managed to coast down the other side as the battery had regenerated a little and was showing 1 bar again, eventually coasted to a stop with the red warning right outside the garage. (replacement charger should arrive tomorrow or the next day) just 10 minutes before the garage shuts for the day so what did they do, MOT, front brakes pads and discs (rear were inspected and found to be perfect, so not needed), a service, oil, oil filter, air filter diesel filter, that got it through the emissions, so with everything plus £132 labour came to just £434. 1 advisory, one rear light in a cluster of 2 was out, quite happy at that, and the garage living up to its name affordable automobiles.
  9. ah well, just called them as I would need to leave shortly to pick up this evening, the parts are on the 4pm van, so it probably wont be done today, I will await a call in the morning, I do however need the car for thursday.
  10. car is booked in for MOT and brake work today, got a call this morning, apart from the brakes its failed on the one thing I couldnt check, the emissions, so they are doing a full service for me, oil, filters etc and going to run some diesel magic through it and a carbon clean too if it needs it, just waiting now for notification they have finished and to go pick it up. the garage is 3.5 miles away, so i throw the electric scooter in the boot to get home and back, the only issue htis time round was- could I find where i had put the charger last time used it- a year ago?, it was on 3 1/2 bars, now on 2 1/2, so will i get back to pick it up, or will it go flat on me (note I use countryside paths and back ways for the vast majority of the route, the rest I walk.
  11. right there- on the stump
  12. there is a good launch site at the staithe at belaugh (between wroxham and coltishall) I have seen many a paddle boarder and canoist launch from there (just north of belaugh boatyard) with parking for about 4 or so cars.
  13. they circle above our office to kill time for a straight run up the mall and over buckingham palace
  14. i was looking at the prices on their site and in general they seem a lot cheaper (around 1/5 the price) than the official nanni parts available, and since they are for the same base engines... add to that they list the applications for the engines (nanni of course being one of them) and looking at all those different applications, its no wonder spares are available. if you find the nanni maintenance sheet for your engine , in the specifications they list something akin to the kubota designation for the engine.
  15. i believe it is a 3.90 nanni so that is a possibility, I guess its possible that the overrun caused an over pressurisation and blew the seal.
  16. I think the question that needs asking is how that oil got into the cylinder, as my initial tests after the overrun allowed me to spin the engine over at least for a couple of revolutions. This would seem to indicate leakage past the rings or past an injector or valve.
  17. new award for the beccles wooden boat week, mount it on a block of wood for the most interesting breakdown of the year.
  18. Oops, well at least it didnt come through the side of the crankcase. looks like the little end seized, that would be why it stopped then.
  19. i believe beccles yacht station may have banned fishing during certain months, but i am sure the others all state fishermen must move.
  20. large swathes of the river banks of the waveney are leased out to fishing clubs and have clearly delineated swims cut to the banks through the reeds, so as they are private fishing they may well be signed as no fishing.
  21. it used to be the river letter then number - eg water rail B77 was the Bure (1933)

    Thanks Tbmc

I went in and bought some fuel the other week, asked if i was ok to pop across the road to lathams, and was charged £3 for a short stay, that was on the normal quay heading
  23. so if we see a drone flying nearby the answer is to whip out our 'bits' and scratch them, at the very least the drone pilot is in for a shock when he reviews the footage. must remember to pack my drill bits next trip, for the scratching of.

    Thanks Tbmc

unimpressed, there is a thread somewhere here detailing the closure of those moorings and the reasons.
