  1. I find it very frustrating the way the BBC is drip-feeding the information that the PM is supposedly going to announce at the press conference - whenever that is. 4pm, 5pm, 6pm and now 6.30pm.
  2. Presumably it will be like it was March - July this year although schools will still be open. I think we just have to wait and see what transpires on Monday.
  3. Bonfire night soon, a wonderful excuse for more pallet burning perhaps?
  4. As are probably the majority of the goods and products we buy! ☹️ (Or should that be ‘is the majority’? 🤔)
  5. Boris usually announces things a few days ahead so you may be lucky and get your full week, or most of it anyway.
  6. Welcome back, you seem to have been missing for quite a while.
  7. I can see how that would make life difficult if things went wrong! Presumably the positioning of the mudweight was why it was also difficult to see how much chain was being let out? (On ours we have a ‘handle,’ for want of a better word, which allows as much chain to drop as you want.) I have seen quite a few boats with mudweights hanging out from the front of the bow like Sonnet, do they still allow the boat to swing as normal when in use?
  8. Or intimidating perhaps? Edited to add that I’m sure you’re not, you’ve been hiring in and out of season for so long that you are probably well known around the hire yards by now. 😁
  9. I notice from Broom’s website that they ask anyone looking to book between October and December to phone them. Maybe asking relevant questions of the would-be hirer and outlining any restrictions?
  10. My husband initially pulls up the mudweight with a couple of short bursts then longer ones until he is sure the chain is not tangling. This also helps loosen the weight from the mud. His tactics have not let us down yet. If covered in mud, we leave the mudweight dangling in the water by an inch or so whilst moving and within a short space of time the mud is gone. In that short space of time, at least one person will call and tell us we have left our mudweight down! (I’m glad people do that in case one day we really do forget - again!) On the hire boats, is there any way of letting an electric mudweight down manually?
  11. Please don’t give them ideas.............😯
  12. I read that as 10000 at first! That would make your year seem better I reckon Ian. 😁
  13. http://www.beccles.info/towncouncil/beccles-quay-yacht-station-for-2020-21/ In case you need the info for your next trip.
  14. Beccles is one of my favourite places to visit and I love the stretch of river between the yacht station and Geldeston. There used to be quite a few nice wild mooring spots up there but, as in so many places, these have either disintegrated or sprouted no mooring signs. Have really enjoyed your write up catcouk, pictures have been amazing.
  15. I think you are a bit out of date with this pic Mr Nog. Beccles Yacht Station is now run by the town council and their charges are a tad different. Having said that, I can’t remember seeing anything about a water charge on their new signs.
  16. Good to hear you are home again Ian. Wishing you all the best for a full and speedy recovery.
  17. I believe they are affectionately known as ‘git gaps’!
  18. All the best Ian. The nasty bit is over now, the only way is up.........⬆️ Good luck with Jim (!), do what he tells you and you’ll be back on the boat before you know it.
  19. I think I’ve gained a day somewhere! Sorry Ian.
  20. There is a fb post stating the Locks has been purchased pre-auction with a Community bid and investors are now sought. Details below if anyone wants to be involved. Please contact us via invest@savethelocks.com Or phone Graham on 01502 714661
  21. Turn downstream from the North Cove moorings, it’s a few hundred yards to the reserve. You can also do a round route, through the reserve then to North Cove itself and back down the road/track to the moorings. Nice walk.
