The general thinking appears to be that weâll have a spike in covid cases during October too. Personally I think masks should still be mandatory in enclosed spaces and regular hand sanitising encouraged. I noticed in Royâs the other day that that all the sanitising equipment on the food side had disappeared. Across the road hand pumps were still in use.
Iâve often wondered what could be done if you arrived back at your home mooring after dark only to find a hire boat moored up. They couldnât move, not having navi lights so the only answer I suppose is to moor up wherever there is another space and sort it out next day. Recently I watched two hire boats moor up in Coxâs boatyard moorings at Barton Turf, alongside the main river as opposed to right inside the yard. Silly thing was, there were a number of spaces along Paddyâs Lane and one at the staithe. I can only assume they misread the private signage!
I read yesterday that August was the least sunniest month on record for the UK. To be honest the long range forecast for September doesnât look too promising. However, our forecasters are not known too well for their confidence or accuracy so who knows!
Iâve heard this time and time again over the last few weeks. Listening to Jeremy Vine last week sometime, a chap phoned in who had trained as an HGV driver. Passed all his exams or whatever is required but he canât get a job because he canât get insured due to lack of experience. Surely this canât apply to all new recruits?
This is also being quoted by the âexpertsâ on tv and radio so it looks as if needs to be planned and purchased as soon as in order to avoid problems down the line. Anyway, itâs time for the displays to appear in Royâs and Lathamâs!
It seems to be hit and miss and, as Coryton said, items randomly running out. I was in our local (large) Tesco supermarket last week surprised to find no fresh milk whatsoever. Absolutely nothing, nada. No such problem this week, seems to be frozen peas and other frozen veg in short supply at present.
We used to pop into Brooms for water early in the morning before they opened up and got going. Not possible now as the water hose is under lock and key. Also, Brooms changed their opening times yet again a couple of months ago and are now open 10.00 - 1700 daily. So no going for an early fill up or empty out any more.
Pumpouts have been ÂŁ18 for a single tank for the last couple of years at least.
