    Afternoon Ste and welcome along.
  2. Amazing photos. Cockshoot Dyke is a lovely mooring place often feeling less frequented than other spots. The walk to the Broad is well worth it. We love the peace and quiet for our overnight moorings rather than being anywhere near a pub!
  3. We’re in the caravan at Lowestoft at the moment and wondering whether we might fit in a drive to Beccles before it rains. Came up quite late yesterday evening after we let the traffic clear on the A12 before setting off. You never know, I might end up at Oulton Broad while you’re in Lowestoft Ian!
  4. Been difficult at work this week. We supposedly have “climate control “ in the building but it’s rubbish. Over 29 degrees in the office so I was moving staff around to try to get them into the one or two rooms where we actually had cooler air coming through. Really not good! Gave them longer lunch breaks and let some go home early.
  5. Great photos from the drone, so interesting. It certainly presents a problem if boats turn up late and all the moorings down there are full. We were at Pyes Mill one year when two boats did exactly that, hire boats with dusk upon them. They pretty much pushed themselves in no matter what.
  6. Welcome Ash Kate 1 Have you hired before at all? How many cabins will you need? There's so many options that whilst I would tend to book with the boatyard direct, you might find the Hoseasons website useful to get an idea of the different kinds of boats available and the prices. Not all yards go through Hoseasons either but I think that you would find members here who would probably recommend all of them for various reasons of personal preference. https://www.hoseasons.co.uk/boat-holidays In my experience Richardson's are always very competitive on price and hard to beat for that. However they are a very large boatyard and some people prefer the more personal touch of the smaller yards such as Bridgecraft and Summercraft. Norfolk Broads Direct have a good variety of boats, always well turned out. And personally I love hiring from Ferry Marina as Horning is a good starting point. A lot may depend on your basic requirements and the budget you have in mind. There are a number of yards offering discounts for late bookings if you can hold your nerve.
  7. Enjoying reading your tale. I’m always at the helm and hubby sorts the ropes whenever we arrive or depart a mooring. Like you, our communication is pretty good but I do get paranoid about making sure he’s onboard!
  8. Great write up and photos. Always something to see on the Broads. :)
  9. Good to know you're safely home. Lovely photo! Here's to the next time!
  10. Hope you had a safe journey down Alan and enjoy your time afloat. What a week to be out!
  11. Takeover days tend to be Friday, Saturday, Monday and Tuesday now that so many people have short breaks as much as holidays for one week or more.
  12. Enjoying your tale and photos David. Last time we did the northern Broads in June we said never again! We prefer early or late season now.
  13. Wonderful to have achieved your dream. I look forward to reading many happy holiday tales from you. Serious blogging starts here!
  14. Great write up and lovely photos. It’s a sure sign of what a great time you’ve had when you book the same boat over again.
  15. Really good photos there David. Thank you for sharing them. So interesting to see where all the Barnes' moorings are now.
  16. A great write-up, the time goes by so quickly. Wishing you a safe journey home ...
  17. What a very engaging start to your story. Looking forward to reading how it continues.
  18. Wonderful write up. That lazy day back at the yard sounds like it was a good idea. I always like to have somewhere in a week’s holiday for not going far or doing much.
  19. Welcome along from another caravanner! We have a static van at Lowestoft. Mid week boating breaks and an occasional day boat have been our lot over the last couple of years with the caravan as a good base for relaxing weekends.
  20. I am always careful when putting my little videos together to try to avoid being intrusive in any way. I’m just waiting to see @Jayfire and @Gracie kayaking under Wroxham or Potter Heigham bridges! Do remember to wave!
  21. The cricket was incredible. We delayed departure from the caravan to watch it to its full conclusion. So many twists and turns. Hard for either team to have to lose out when it’s that close. But well done to the English team.
  22. Great job keeping track of it all Paul! We’re just watching the cricket ... and with Root out now as well our top batsmen are certainly not performing.
  23. I hadn’t watched cricket until recently but this format can be quite exciting. I was signed off work for three weeks in June so got quite hooked because I actually had the time to watch it ... and it was better than the rest of the daytime tv!! :)
  24. In our experience boatyards often put signs out if they don’t want you to moor there because of reserving the space for their own boats. But many of them are very relaxed about it and just ask that you be gone by 8am. There are so many changeover days now that you would never be able to use the boatyards otherwise! So just be happy to be away early. No hardship really as that’s the best time of the day. :)
  25. Probably going to be watching the cricket here. Great news that Sky are letting Channel 4 have the coverage as well. We’re at the caravan so would have missed it otherwise.
