  1. Have you had both jabs already Peter?
  2. Thanks Paul. I guess I didn’t think about anyone having a life planned ... says the person with a boat booked and paid for in early March. It’s not cancelled until I get that call from Richardson’s to give me back my money!
  3. That doesn't sound like a 12 week wait for the second appointment? Or maybe my Maths isn't good. I still wonder whether the first vaccinations are going to have to come to a bit of a standstill while the follow-up appointments happen.

    My Day

Must be a look of Triumph on your face .....
  5. Did anyone else go out and clap for Tom at 6pm this evening? We did but there was no-one else out in our street. Might have been one or two out in adjacent roads, I thought I could hear something in the distance. But it was a shame not to see more people out ... although it was a bit chilly and very dark. What an inspiration he was. Never to be forgotten I would think.
  6. We have had deliveries from the Chinese in Horning for a small charge. Really good food, very friendly service ... you just have to make sure that you've got cash to pay them. They are still there and open more days than a lot of other places doing food at the moment. I think what you can get in terms of takeaways may depend how open the pubs and restaurants are come May. Places like the King's Arms in Ludham, the White Horse in Neatishead and the Hotel Wroxham are all doing takeaway some days of the week at the moment. I've not used them as we're staying local and I would need to drive to get there ... which isn't really essential travel right now when I've got plenty of food in my fridge!
  7. Pink jobs and blue jobs. Or in our case quite a bit of role reversal. I work full time and hubby is retired. That means he mostly does the housework although I mostly still cook the dinner. He does the ironing midweek and I do it at the weekend. But here’s the best bit ... he knows how the vacuum cleaner works and I don’t!! Being ex-forces he’s always been the one who likes things kept tidy.
  8. The business I work for has just been sold so I start under a new employer today. But I’ve seen the same messaging around having to take a certain amount of leave before a certain date. I’m undecided about what I will do but I’ll probably take my week off in March regardless. Hope the sewing goes well. Shame the stained glass making had to stop, I always enjoyed seeing what you and Graham had done.
  9. Of course you have to go if invited but there seems to be a lot of disparity around the country.
  10. When we hired from NBD or Barnes or even on the way to Horning, I always got a thrill from seeing the boats lined up along the back of the car park just before Wroxham Bridge coming from the Norwich direction. Just like this ...
  11. Mine also used to include the A140, specifically Goodies farm shop. We always stopped there on the way up from Essex. It was like a dividing line. Almost there and most of the journey behind us.
  12. Are there places that when you see them you know you’ve arrived at the Broads? Or you’re nearly there. Here’s one that has greeted so many people.
  13. Thanks for your replies. I’m a long way down the list. Probably be summer before they get to me. It’s great to read of other folk getting their vaccinations done but it’s why we need this to keep pushing on apace. Otherwise the rest of us remain at risk for longer.
  14. Reports from a reliable source are that our local vaccination centre is deserted today. I can’t help wondering whether they ran out of vaccine. Not good though.
  15. And what I haven’t heard anyone mention is whether once we get to the end of the first twelve weeks will we come to a stop while they handle the second appointments for everyone.
  16. It is disturbing when you read of some of the people getting apparently bumped up the list. Makes you wonder where the control is. Of course most people are not going to turn it down if offered but it does make you wonder how long some of us very ordinary folk might be left waiting.
  17. Ranworth looked chaotic as usual!
  18. Great news that you had your vaccination Liz. Hope you stay safe and well now We live quite close to a vaccination centre and it also makes me wonder whether they are running some kind of backup list for local residents who could be there in minutes.
  19. Brilliant video. We watched some of the others on the channel as well. There’s a look at holiday camps on Hayling Island in the 70s as well which is quite amusing.
  20. Don’t forget that logistically there’s way more people needing the Covid vaccine than would usually be called for the flu vaccine. They extended the flu vaccine to over 50s this year but I only just had mine a couple of weeks ago.
  21. That is so sad, and I agree. We do need to look forward to better times, and naturally our thoughts turn to the things we all want to be able to get back to. But that has to be when it's safe. And we have to hope that, as I saw on tv the other day, this is just a moment in our lives, and there will be time ahead for us to return to everything else if we do our best to keep ourselves safe.

    Snow

I don't think it has snowed that much, about one inch in our garden. It's been a few hours of light snow so far, blown around a bit in the breeze, but definitely not a blizzard or even pucker large snowflakes. Took this earlier but it's not changed a lot.
  23. Hmmm ... we are also booked for March and thinking it less and less likely that it will go ahead. However if it does, given how many people have posted on other social media about March bookings, I don't think it will be as quiet and tranquil as other years at the same time.

    My Day

Lots of changes on the travel front with negative tests required to come back into the country and self-isolation. I haven't ever been to Benidorm but do like Spain. I'm not that widely travelled though ... and I don't think I have any desire to be anywhere other than at home right now. My day today? Staying in and keeping warm.

Looks lovely. What kind of temperatures have you got out there?
