  1. Family visits are definitely top of the list to arrange. We’re fairly spread out so it may not be immediate but it will happen. Day boats and coffee stops and trips to the North Norfolk coast are also on my list.
  2. I’ve watched all four series of The Crown as well. Wasn’t so keen on the fourth one but probably because I remembered the events. But putting the royals aside, series 1-3 were a great modern social history. I do wonder how the pandemic will be viewed in 50 - 100 years time. How will it be described when students look back.
  3. I agree JM with your post too. Employers of non-key workers have their part to play with supporting people like your son-in-law. We have to be flexible and understanding in that situation. I see it constantly in the business that I work in.
  4. That is a good point. There is something about being told that you can only go out once a day for exercise that makes you want to use your allowance. However I think for me there was also the point that obesity and fitness can contribute to how unwell you might become and how your recovery might be impacted if you are unfortunate enough to catch the virus and become really unwell. I don’t like being indoors for days at a time anyway. But also with working from home and not even having the daily commute or walk to the shops at lunchtime that one exercise time allowed per day is very important.
  5. But it’s debatable whether that is in the spirit of stay at home and stay local. There is a risk if you had broken down or had an accident and needed help. Beautiful photos and lovely scenery though. I can understand the temptation!
  6. I can understand the optometrist but not everyone who works there.
  7. Hmmm ... I struggle to understand why the situation you describe in your second story Liz would warrant being on a list to be called in. There are many workers still in front of the public full time. I agree that we don’t want vaccines wasted but that also means a second dose going to that person as well. It does sound like queue jumping to me. Or maybe I’m not fully understanding this one.
  8. I would have to disagree with that. Last time round I was living in a city. My walks were kept to the estate where I lived and people were crossing the road to avoid each other. The guidance says to keep to your village, town or the part of the city where you live. To drive any distance risks breakdown or accident bringing other people into a situation of your making. Unacceptable unless really necessary.
  9. Lovely photos JM. I think I missed that glimpse of the sun.
  10. I hope your brother is soon on the path to recovery Grace. Very worrying times. I agree completely with the sentiments that we all need to comply and get on with it.
  11. So good to find the positive where one can. Like everyone we miss being able to see our family. It feels quite restrictive to know we can only go out for limited reasons including to exercise once a day BUT We make the most of that “once a day”. It’s actually a motivator to go out and walk. And with an app on my phone to count steps and measure distance it encourages me to want to do it whatever the weather.
  12. I am always mindful of that balance between people who aren’t around the Broads wanting to still see what’s going on and not wanting to cause upset to those who can’t be here. On balance the feedback I have had is to keep posting the photos and videos.

    My Day

Positive news I hope for your daughter Liz. And congratulations on your anniversary. 🥂
  14. Belated best wishes Timbo for your birthday, for Christmas and for New Year ... and early happy wishes for Father’s Day, Grandfather’s Day, National Beagle Day, Toby’s birthday and all 2021 festivities! 😂 Does that about cover the year that was and the year to come? Seriously, stay safe and well and thank you for such excellent chairpersonship of the good ship NBN. 👍🥂
  15. Welcome along! Look forward to reading more from you.

    Not Good

You’re right Grace. You just never know someone else’s circumstances. It’s too easy to be judgmental without knowing. We try to keep focused on ourselves and our family. And we’re still using online shopping including weekly deliveries from Sainsbury’s or Morrison’s. We miss that joy of going round the shops, seeing what’s new and finding different things. But it’s for the best for now.

    Not Good

Agree completely. There’s so much focus on the negative without turning it round and reporting the positive.
  18. Water was level with the quay heading behind the King’s Head in Hoveton this afternoon. Well under 6 foot under the bridge when I looked on the BB webcam this morning.
  19. Saw some footage of the Beccles area on BBC’s Look East regional programme this evening. You can probably pick it up off iPlayer no matter where you live. Interesting viewing. Really bad flooding and you have to feel for anyone in their situation.
  20. Looks amazing. Stay safe and well. Hope that sunshine's warmer out there than it is here.

    Confused

I do wish we could stick to how it's relevant to the Broads and boating though. Otherwise this becomes one more place where you could easily fall out with people whose opinion differs to one's own. And I wouldn't want that to happen. There are other places to read and discuss more generally.
  22. That would be me then ... but I’m not going back!
  23. Tier 4 is also called Stay At Home! This from the .gov.uk website and as such we won't be leaving the area where we live for the foreseeable future. I really am going to avoid these kind of topics now and get back to what this forum is supposed to be about. Travelling within a Tier 4 area If you live in a Tier 4 area, you must not leave your home unless you have a reasonable excuse (e.g. for work or education purposes). If you need to travel you should stay local - meaning avoiding travelling outside of your village, town or the part of a city where you live - and look to reduce the number of journeys you make overall.
  24. I would rather look at my glass as 3/4 full not 1/4 empty but agree that those not complying do matter because they are probably only causing the rest of us to be restricted for longer. And I have personal reasons as to why that matters so much. The point I was really trying to make is that in my view there was no point in starting a topic now about news that is more than a week old. It’s only going to rile people.
