  1. This is old news and we're past Christmas. We need to focus on what lies ahead not what everyone did a week ago.
  2. I don’t really know what to say to you Timbo. I’ve only ever owned a dog once many years ago for only a short while. But it’s clear how intelligent dogs can be and how much you loved Dylan and amazing all the ways in which he helped you. So all I can do is wish you brighter days ahead as things settle down.
  3. Hubby is quite happy watching some of the many football matches available across the various tv channels. I've been keeping up with the drama of Eastenders where they seem to be heaping misery in even more abundance than usual since coming back to our screens and building up to the Christmas and New Year stories. We enjoyed The Wheel, Michael McIntyre's new show, and also Celebrity Who Wants to Be a Millionaire last night. Other than that we have some regular YouTube vlogs to watch, and also like to pick up a series or two on Netflix. At present we're watching The Fall. And then there's that good old fashioned thing called ... going for a walk!
  4. That was a week ago now. More relevant I think are the reports I have read that 85% of people complied with the Christmas lockdown rules and that 75% think it was right to change the rules. Yes it was the Mail Online but even so, that has to be good news. And the streets around where I live were deserted when I went out yesterday. I was quite surprised just how much fun we were able to have on a Zoom call, opening presents and playing some online games. We were spread across the country in two tier 4 areas and one tier 3, and even joined a friend in from Australia. Not quite the same as all being together but very good fun nonetheless.
  5. That's very interesting. My dad was a philatelist and passed the interest to myself and my sister as children. It's not something I have kept up but I think I might order a set of these or one of their other collectible options. https://shop.royalmail.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=national+parks
  6. The wind seems to have died down a bit and there is some brightness in the sky. These photos were taken yesterday afternoon before darkness fell.
  7. Wow! Griff that’s fantastic. I’m sure there will be a lot of us looking forward to hearing all about it when you get that flight.
  8. Walked down the road that leads to Summercraft and around some of that estate at lunchtime while the sun was out and the wet stuff had stopped. There were some quite flooded gardens around there. Also the Horning Road has got some flooding in the dip by the school. Someone has taken out that crossing as well a few days ago now.
  9. I like this message from Norfolk County Council which they have put out on their Facebook page: With Norfolk going into Tier 4 on Boxing Day, don’t be tempted to push the boundaries and meet lots of people from different households before then. Any mixing of households will increase the chance of Coronavirus spreading in the county and put even more pressure on our NHS. Stick to the guidance and consider whether your plans can wait until a safer time.
  10. I don't think that we were really expecting to jump from tier 2 to tier 4! Lockdown hair again then before you know it, I had an appointment booked at the hairdressers for 6th January! The weather hasn't helped either. Needed the lights on indoors by about 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon. I've seen the footage of flooding on the A140 at Long Stratton. Daresay it will be pretty flooded under the railway bridge in Hoveton, that seems to be a regular place for problems.

    My Day

Love the lights Colin. Not that I would necessarily want to be moored next to you!
  12. I would echo what has already been said. We had been to the Broads a few times before I joined as I wanted to contribute my own holiday tales having read lots of content in the open areas. The messaging system we have alongside the forums is great and helps even more to forge friendships with those members that you just click with, who have mostly similar views, and seem to be the ones that you count as friends and know you would get on with if you met.
  13. Regulo has the right answer first! We were indeed somewhere around the road bridge looking across from the Woods side to the opposite bank. It was a somewhat grey morning, a bit breezy but nice to have a wander. And it gave my car a bit of a run. Just under 6’ clearance at the bridge
  14. See ... I told you that we had very clever people. Potter Heigham but not from Herbert Woods ... anyone care to try to be more exact?
  15. I'm sure that with all the very clever people on this forum, someone will get this straight away. But where was I this morning?
  16. Thanks for sharing this one, I hadn't watched it yet. I do subscribe to this channel and if you go back through the videos you will find some interesting walks around some of our Norfolk and Suffolk coastal towns.
  17. We have indeed had Moon Beam before. There will be a holiday tale written up for that. Been tempted by Swan Renown as it’s very similar to Fair Prince which we loved. Booking for 2022 ... I can’t make myself think that far ahead but a good idea if you want to get a specific boat.
  18. We should be on Swan Reflection. My favourite boat. Had it several times and it’s where my username comes from. 😂
  19. We were the same. Had a few days in early March before there were any restrictions. I was only back in the office a couple of days before I had to start working from home. And then lockdown arrived the following week. I don’t think most of us even then foresaw how long this would last.
  20. Welcome along! I’m hoping for a few days afloat in March too.
  21. Glad to hear you're on the mend. Hope your plans work out well from here on.
  22. With respect I would have to disagree with you on that. I've had electric kettles, toasters and an immersion heater on a hire boat without needing to run the engine or be on electrical hookup to get them working in the morning. You just need to have done a good amount of cruising hours.
  23. What’s the obsession with the kettle?! I’ve never needed to run the engine to boil the kettle. Only piece of equipment that needs that is the microwave. And that goes for boats with gas as well.

    My Day

Lovely photo Liz. So hard not to just pick them up and cuddle them. Hopefully soon ...

    My Day

It certainly was a shame about the weather Liz although probably wise to get it done while you could. Very atmospheric photos and your grandson looks so sweet. We did something similar today, a rendezvous at a service station to exchange presents with one of our family. It was absolutely pouring with rain so we couldn't even stand outside at a safe distance to chat. Instead we were sat in our respective cars, windows part way down, having a socially distanced conversation for about 30 minutes before one person got out and moved the bags between cars. We had taken a flask of coffee with us so had that before we drove home ... in the rain! Could have been worse, at least it wasn't snow and ice or the thick fog we had yesterday.
